Huang Jing: Time for Asian G2

The question of India betraying USA does not arise as the USA can only be betrayed by an ally - NATO or Non-NATO, and India is neither.

India is an ally of the USA and USA uses her to contain China. However , India on one hand wants to continue to benefit from USA (High tech arms and Nuke deal) and on the other hand wants to be part of the S.C.O and now wants to form an Asian G2 with China. India should make up her mind on where she stands -- either continue to be an ally of USA or be friend with China, Pakistan and the rest of Asia.

Pakistan is a bigger ally of USA and still its a very close of China, how are you maintaining that?

India has traditionally been very close to Russia, and now in your own words, its an ally of USA. I did not see India backstabbing / betraying Russia.

China and India have NOTHING IN COMMON whereas China, Singapore,Taiwan, S. Korea, Japan and HK are all Confucius countries.
Well if you want to go byphilosophy and religion, you forgot that despite no specific state religion, they all follow privately a religion that originated in India en masse--Buddhism.

And who be you to say that and on what basis? Nuclear deals? Purchase of defense equipment? Or are we members of NATO? From what we remember, some country in our western neighbourhood signed the CENTO treaty with United States and has maximum of its weapons. Have we signed any such pacts?

NAME me one. There goes your bubble of some "alliance". There's a BIG difference between strategic partnership and alliance.

Alliance = NATO, Warsaw Pact, SEATO/CENTO

Strategic Partnership = we Indians with every top power on this planet (barring China till now)

Stop dreaming for us to fall into any specific basket so that "Russia approaches Pakistan". We have a multi-lateral and multi-tier concept in foreign policy with its merits and demerits. We aren't going anywhere.

better to work with india than with the US. the indian, japanese and southeast asian markets can sustain our growth for years as the japanese population ages and demand for biomedical devices increases, and as india and southeast asia develop.

eventually, the entire landmass of eurasia can return to being the center of civilization and the americas back where they belong, at the periphery of humanity and only useful as sources of slaves and resources.

That is the goal.

China & India,, are 2 of the worlds fastest growing countries. So grouping Asias 2nd & 3rd largest economy makes sense.

INFACT WE SHOULD HAVE A aSIAN G7 OR G8

Japan $5trillion gdp
China 4.5 trillion gdp
india 1.3 $trillion gdp
South Korea $1 trillion gdp
indoneasia $500 billion gdp
saudi $300 billion gdp
Taiwan $250 billion gdp

These are the biggest and most powerful economies in ASIA. THEIR VOICE should be herd

don't talk about chinese football. please... just don't. they improved recently but their shame is still with us.

india has alot of potential. it is unbelievable that 1 billion people united in 1 country doesn't, that has got to be worth something. they share many of our problems, though they are poorer and have more of them, at least they are more like us than the americans.

they are a huge potential market for our manufacturers and we are a huge potential market for professional services.

You're right, India does have enormous potential.

So I think improved cooperation is absolutely essential, if we are to return "Asia" to its rightful and historical place in the world order.

A strong Asia will be beneficial to all of us.

What a retarded comment India and China go back thousands of years and have much shared culture much more then pakistan.

The Indian dhyana master Buddhabhadra (Chinese: 跋陀; pinyin: Bátuó) was the first abbot of Shaolin Monastery.

Japan and China has millions of buddhist too so does SK.

We Indians have common myth that when China adopted Buddhism they got Indianized(term borrowed from the book Clash of Civilizations) i.e it had a cultural impact, the truth is that it was just adoption of religious principles which they preferred and mixing them with their traditional religions like Confucianism and Taoism etc.
Same goes for Japan too,you won't find pure Buddhism there,as there will some influence from Shintoism too.

ontopic
I think India needs to mature more before forming such a block. Its true we agree with China on most of issues like Terrorism,Afghanistan,Climate change etc.But when it comes to US related issue such as Iran,Changing $ as the global currency etc we seem to hesitate i.e until we have a clear stand in the international community such Groups like G2 etc will not be so fruitful.

A bipolar world doesn't exist now a days and the US is aware about it. There is not a question of with us or against us now and every country wants to make it's investment broadly. Both India and China are aware that the US wants to contain them by using each against the other as the US is afraid that a rising and united Indo-China could scuttle it's power projections.

As was visible during the Copenhagen summit that a united India-China could force the western powers to give more concessions to the developing world, thus the need of the hour is to end the Indo-China disputes amicably and enter into a new ever expanding realm of co-operation.

The Indian economy is expected to touch $2 trillion by 2015 and lead the asian growth as China's economic growth stabilizes to around 8%. Together with 2.5 billion population the domestic market of India-China is too big and needs both the manufacturing goods of China and the IT/Financial services of India. Thus the opportunities in India-China co-operation are too big to be restricted due to years old dispute. There is enough space for both to grow amicably and lead Asia in the 21st century.

You're absolutely right.

I always thought cooperation was better than rivalry.

We need more cooperation in Asia.
