What's new

how many years it took to build tejas?? lets settle the issue once for all

Good, LCA MK2 should be similar to JF-17 Block 1 when LCA comes out in 2017 and by then JF-17 should have 3 Blocks.

there is not need to troll. why you come in every thread of LCA with your JF-17 if you think it is superior.
did we are talking about jf-17 or making any comparison with lca.
Off topic: I know you have super duper Chinese plane which they dnt want to induct in his airforce

If you want to know about JF-17, look at the second to last post on Page 1.

Wrong, Chinese have already inducted JF-17 in their airforce, please check up on your facts and do change your mindset from 2008.

how can we know without the tejas being finished?

The actual work started in late 90s when the aircraft was actually brought back to life after nearly having it scrapped during early 90s due to budgetary constraints.

No disrespect to your venture mate.

Evidence please. They built this fighter for exporting; not local inductions.

this thread is to understand the development timeline of tejas not abt jf-17.

the ambitiousness of the LCA programme in terms of pursuing self-reliance in aviation technologies is illustrated by the fact that out of a total of 35 major avionics components and line-replaceable units (LRUs), only three involve foreign systems. These are the multi-function displays (MFDs) by Sextant (France) and Elbit (Israel), the helmet-mounted display and sight (HMDS) cueing system by Elbit, and the laser pod supplied by Rafael (Israel). However, even among these three, when the LCA reaches the production stage, the MFDs are expected to be supplied by Indian companies. A few other important items of equipment (such as the Martin-Baker ejection seat) have been imported. As a consequence of the embargo imposed on India after its nuclear weapons tests in May 1998, many items originally planned to be imported were instead developed indigenously. The nuclear test sanctions delayed the development of technologies that were already many years behind schedule.[citation needed]

so engine, multi-function displays (MFDs) by Sextant (France) and Elbit (Israel), the helmet-mounted display and sight (HMDS) cueing system by Elbit, and the laser pod supplied by Rafael (Israel re bought off the shelff and MMR radar has been developed in cooperation. nice thats a major boost to our defence capabilitiess:victory::victory::victory:

Time lines are not important to me, the amount of learning and the improvement in manufacturing technology towards modern firghter aicraft building are the important things and I still don't belive that we have matured yet in this area.
we have to retain some of our best brains and the aircraft industries should be given to private sectors with Government funding.

dude, this year is 2012 already. i read somewhere that mentioned HAL is only able to produce 8 tejas per year the most.
furthermore how can you expect to have 40 odds number manufactured even before it is achiving the FOC status?

How many years USA and other countries have passed for F 35. Why they think to start again from design stage. Its always happen. Might your model be rejected but you earn tknowledge to built number of components. LCA mark II will rule in to sky. Dont bother even failure. Learn experience of Arjun 1 which was laterly widely accepted by the all.

I was like Forrest Gump back then - never understood the significance of this project when I got a chance to visit the LCA complex in Bangalore back in 1990s.

Eagerly waiting for the FOC and induction of these sleek toys into the IAF AND IN.

.
