The threat of terrorism remains a serious concern in the Af/Pak region. It has become a well known fact that the ISIL is attempting to extend its influence in the border provinces of Afghanistan and Pakistan. At the same time, the Taliban continue to disrupt our shared peace objectives on both sides of the border with their acts of terror. The common concerns have often provoked the regional partners to shift the blame in each other’s direction. All the while, the terrorists continue to push their agenda forward. The key point to note here is that ultimately we are fighting the same terrorists and face similar challenges in the region. The fact is that the U.S., Pakistan and Afghanistan have all lost thousands of brave soldiers in our fight against terrorism. We joined hands in the first place due to our shared stance against terrorism, and the need of the hour is to remain united in order to negate the common threat of terrorism.
