What's new

How do you Chinese view the rapid development of the past 35 years?

Really glad to see how our country has developed for the past 30+ years. For me, this picture of foreign delegates & bizmen also sums up how far we have gone from a "commie country" where everyone stayed away, to a country today where everyone wants to invest in.

Nothing wrong of being a commie, since only a bunch of diehard nationalist commies like CPC will always put China's national interests in the first place.

Because CPC is the pragmatic commie, that's why they can outcompete the West by absorbing their advantage.

Funny that some of you love always to diss CPC as single party dictatorship, heartless commie, propaganda against KMT, blahblahblah.

Yet you guys haven't realized who was responsible for transforming China from a third world hellhole into today's prosperous society.

No regime/dynasty in China's history can match CPC's contribution. Those great dynasties like Han and Tang were thriving because China was always remained more advanced than the rest of the world, while during CPC's early years, China was much much lagging behind the western world, yet CPC was still capable to turn the table around.

You guys who disrespect CPC are the real heartless ones.
It's better to change the name since almost all Chinese commies are not real including most high-rank officials. Using a system of communism terminology makes a lot of Chinese confused about the gap between real life and politics.

China is not commie?

Where do you think all our state-owned enterprises belong to?

There is corruption in our SOE, but in general, our SOE still puts China's national interests above anything else, can any POE do this without concerning their profit?

State owned is not a unique characteristic of CPC. You got to read the cored values of communism. Now the government is great of course, but real communists will dislike. If CPC is pragmatic, then changing name is also pragmatic to meet people's need. I don't see much difference among the current administration, Taiwan before democratization and Singapore.

I support SOE for entriprise core essential like mining, power, water, defence, healthcare, telecom...etc.

Only state can provisioned such service best. Industries like consumer high tech should be the domain for private enterprise.

If China go all private, it will be controlled by a few rich. The rich will destroy supply to reap profit from artificial scarcity.

Commie is a misnomer these days. Look thru the pages of history & you will see centralised goverance, strict control of strategic tech. Industries & free reign mercantile market has been around for millenia, no difference today.

CPC shall be given credit for China massive transformation to a world class standard country. It shall sit in same level as Han, Tang and Ming prosperity era.

I bet in another few years time. A rewrite of 大国崛起 documentary will include rise of modern China under CPC.

Well, China's only suitable path is the socialism strongly embedded with the nationalism, but not in the sense of the Nazi Germany's national socialism.

But the Chinese Communist is their name since the beginning, so no need to change right now, since it is a tribute to their predecessors.

Its too early to call out communism. I don't like of idea of pushing our problem to our children to bear like pollution, excessive consumption, increasing wealth disparity, capitalistic practice like manufacturing scarcity and planned obsolescence. For example, essential medicine like hepatitis C cost USD160,000 because its a cure, not treatment like diabetes. Virus such as Ebola, are not profitable to be research.

Stephen Hawking is pushing for man to go to space for capitalistic society to function. Capitalism assumes we have unlimited rescources and infinite growth.

The name will stick since that's how the west see us, lol. No big deal really.

I think CPC deserves absolutely higher rank than Han/Tang/Ming if they have absolutely succeeded their goal.

Remember, during the era of Han/Tang/Ming, China was always ahead in every aspect, while CPC was turning the table with a much more backward China.

CPC will absolutely transcend Han/Tang/Ming when they become successful.
