How China builds these, and why India never does

Because India is a democracy and there are lot of stakeholders involved in each project including the common citizens, while China is authoritarian and give a $hit about its citizens
@JADE

THAT'S A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT, THE ONE WHO BENEFIT THE MOST OUT OF THESE PROJECTS ARE THE COMMON PEOPLE OF CHINA. YES INDIA IS A DEMOCRACY BUT, TO SAY THAT MEGA PROJECTS IN INDIA GET BOOGED DOWN BECAUSE OF CONCERNS FOR THE COMMON MAN IS A LAME EXCUSE. THE ONLY REASON THAT SUCH PROJECTS DON'T COME ABOUT IN INDIA OR ARE BOGGED DOWN IN INDIA IS BECAUSE OF THAT GOD DAMN BEUROCRACY THAT WE HAVE IN THE SUBCONTINENT.

We? You are partially correct. India is most bureaucratic country in the world. Yet, many projects do get quick clearance from government and then get stuck due to simple thing like land acquisition. It happens all the time. The most serious impact is cost and then time. Some projects are simply abandoned.

You do not actually know the core business of Siemens, do you!!?

Lie lie lie 50 times and it becomes truth! China lesson number one 1?

You should have read the NYT links.

You know why there are "nail households" in China? Because the government can't touch them if they don't want to move, so the skyscraper is built around them right outside their land. The government is absolutely powerless to get rid of them, yet the projects go on (by just building around them). I wonder why India doesn't do that?

You know guys, I was reading the thread, and somebody said that India was 40 years behind China.
I found that somewhat amusing because to be quite frank I think there may be some truth into it. :)
Compare to the Least developed provinces of China to the least developed provinces of India, and still the least developed provinces of China beats many Indian provinces!

Check out the links:
Comparing Chinese provinces with countries: All the parities in China | The Economist
Comparing Indian states and territories with countries: An Indian summary | The Economist

Like I said earlier, comparing India to China is ludicrous!

This seems to be copy cat of a thread called china s ferrari Vs Indias truck ... The authour is inspired from the previous thread i guess

I know the story (2 years old or so). In India, one guy is not to protest. Thousands do. They don;t just protest, they resort to violence. There are full time communists in India (no link to China here) whoi literally protest anything and everything under sun. They do nothing else. Countless court litigations, dharnas, violence...Doesn't mean that nothing gets happened. Good number of projects get clearance quickly (small ones like buildings or airports..). Any road project will get hit. India has not built on road without protest. Any dam, any.. You cannot build roads by going around thousands of acres of land. .

Ahem, back to trolling again? Least developed province of Germany matches almost all Chinese provinces (that is after decades of communist rule in eastern Germany). Whats your point? China's PCI is more than 3 times that of India (close to 4 probably). Are you a master of stating obvious or this the limit of intellect you are capable of displaying?

What nonsense. We don't believe in any such thing. India is simply incapable of finishing any project on time. Break neck speed!!! No kidding.

DMIC indeed is biggest undertaking ever taken in India. Initial cost projection were 90 billion dollar but India being India, cost might easily escalate to 150 billion or more. Good news is that work has already begun. Gujarat ofcourse has taken the lead.

SSC is excellent site on India. After 55 years of neglect, India is finally spending lot of money on infrastructure. 2 things unfortunately are left mostly untouched, urban development and railways.

In India, a billion dollar investment cannot proceed without first getting clearance from the local panchayat which is the lowest form of government in India. Again a billion dollar investment comes to a standstill if a single local farmer/land owner gets a stay order from the court.

We believe in slow and steady rather than break neck speed.

A billion dollor project is never stayed because of a single farmer , if the minister is happy then it goes smoothly .. if there is a political opposition the politics is played with the people by the politicians to make it like an agitation rather reflect his personal intrest ...

So build around them. China's government also can't touch that 1 farmer but they'll just build a bridge over his land or build an entire skyscraper around the house. After all, his land stops where it stops.

How am I trolling?:disagree:

LOL,
Germany is irrelevant here. Its about China and India. However, since you brought up Germany, can you please bring up evidence to back up your statements.

China's GDP (Nominal) is much higher than Germany's GDP (Nominal).
