Nope..Yemen without a 100 years of wars would have been much better than Iran..Even in the Shah era, majority of Iranians were poor, while there were huge and very expensive armed forces.. these are facts you can easily verify for yourself..

in those times the majority of humans on earth were still dirt poor. not just Iranians. and the average lifestyle of an Iranian even then was much higher then most other places (including persian gulf arabs) but excluding 1st world countries.

The average quality of life of a westerner in the 70s is about the same as an average Iranian today in ppp terms.

do you know that till yesterday I did not even know what was going on in yemen. I looked at the map and yemen is not in the immediate vicinity as such of Iran. Why are they involved and its true what do they expect would happen? Im sure Iranians as a people and military are brave but sometimes you gotta be realistic.
