Horror movies you watched as a kid

I remember this scaring the bejesus out of me when I was a little kid and watching it for the first time. What made this so good was the fact that there was no gore, yet it still managed to be just as scary as any film with blood and guts.

Ha! Another fan! You're spot on. It is actually the sheer terror and suspense that makes this film great, and the absence of gore is incredible, considering we were going into the golden age of American gore films i.e. the 80's slasher flicks.
You have to admit though @KAL-EL the scene with the younger vampire brother, "visiting" his older sibling, makes the hairs on the back of your neck standup .

Evil dead!
I watched it when I was in grade 1. Since then dark rooms and rooms with huge windows were something which I avoided. Even now when I'm in India it's hard for me to enter dark rooms.
Horror movies do have an effect on you as a child.
Last year I watched "The conjuring" with 2 of my cousin brothers. Its supposed to be a horror movie, just that I didn't find it scary. Nothing scares me as much as Evil dead. Don't know why?

The 1st horror movie I watched as a kid was Suspiria & believe me when I say I was scared shitless. Now as grown up when I see this movie I am like what the hell how could I have been scared from this movie. My 2nd horror experience as kid was watching zee horror shows. Damn those times where good.

The Bone Snatcher
and the The Grudge (only first one)

Conjuring and Insidious 2 was much funnier to me .Especially insidious 2 there is nothing in there for a horror movie.

I slept with my friend after we watched this in the dorm :o:

The only horror scene in this movie was when the first girl was killed by that ring girl, When they open the cabinet in which she was Hiding or whatever that horrific face. No one can come close to Grudge .

Other horror movies are just horror but Grudge is more sinister and evil and runs a cold chill on spine even when i am taking shower or when im alone . I have all grudge movies in HD but i really dont have courage to watch em. But i do know how to make that demonic sound that "Gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

Is this where we sit around and discuss childhood trauma by horror movies? :enjoy:

I think I found most of it boring, although the part I remember most was those with the kid.
Now of course, I'm a big Kubirck fan and this happens to be a more entertaining film.

The Grudge is quite good for the scare factor, I can't name many films that even come in the same league.

Oh God, I just saw that now. :sarcastic:

I was scared beyond belief watching that scene. Beside the visuals, the musical score was almost as frightening.

I recently saw the remake which aired on American TV in the mid 2000's. Not nearly as good as the original, but definitely worth a watch.
