Like i mentioned before organizations like the BBS and Ravana Balaya evolved as reactionary forces to counter what they perceived as threats from these extremist fundementalists or as i see more to do with forcing Arabic tribal culture (Saudi Wahabbi) in to the community.. Their main grouse was blanket Halal certification and propagation of Sharia law.. They had more of a political motive later on viz a viz the Rajapaksa administration, Which eventually led to their failure among the masses

So essentially they did specifically target more fundamentalist sections but later on made it in to a politically motivated anti Muslim movement

But some of their messages still resonates in the wider society, With good reason as these events show

i agree there is silence but that is mostly among indian muslims who sadly through their corrupted islam version managed to influence many others in the world in the last 15 years.

didn't you see the war in libya and syria?? most of the victims were muslim, most of the perpetrators were muslim... the victims were not silent, they fought the reactionaries for decades, whether by arms or by intellectual challenge.

you must ask yourself this question before blaming muslims - whenever there are muslims in the world who have used progressivism/socialism to take control of their society, it always has been the western governments who have armed the reactionaries and brought those societies to destruction, so why are western governments not the primary criminals in anything bad that happens in the world??

There are three main ethnic groups in the Sri Lankan Muslim community in the island.. I dont expect some random Bangladeshi to know the complexities of the demographics.. So best you stick to what you know

I agree completely that the West has played a very nasty role in this. The thing is that they actively supported and funded the spread of this ideology to counter Communism and now they have a cluster F**k on their hands.
I also agree that socialist govt's like that of Nasser's or Ataturk's (not so much Gaddafi's .. sorry ) were perfect for this. Even Pakistan early on..
However, we cannot change the past. We need to accelerate the change in our respective societies.
