Has the Groundwork already been laid for a Turkic Corridor?

It would be a miracle if people at the conselate would return my Salam with a smile.

i have noticed that Pakistanis in general don't smile, unless ofcourse they are your family or friends then they have the biggest smile. For everyone else, we should be just thankful that we are breathing next to them.

It seems it’s a culture they have been taught.

I don’t think they are trying to be rude just formal and business oriented. It could be that they have been side tracked in to causal conversations in the past so often, that this is how they are taught to behave, in order to dissuade longer the necessary conversations.

Similar culture everywhere in Pakistan then I guess. Post office, banks, hotels etc. I went to Rawalpindi GPO once when I was young with my brother. Even the Post Master acted like His Majesty the Lord of national post.

After 8-12 windows we were able to get the answer "try again two days later, your package has not arrived yet".

It was laid more or less, more than 2 decades ago...

Work needs to be done on this. The benefits are massive, the losses sufferable. I believe this is bigger than CPEC.

It'll give us leverage against China and won't make us highly dependent on China like Pakistan was to the US before...

Because if Pakistan doesn't do something, China, Russia, India, Turkey, US & Israel probably will and they're already working on it...

We need more threads like this on PDF.

Not the useless flame baits or trolling ones like the recent Rizvi vs. Edhi.

@krash am I right ma boi? :D
Agree we should explore participation in this....but certainly not as a rival to CPEC. We're not in the business of ditching true allies - and China is a true ally.

.
Where are the Pakistanis who used to say the same things about Habibi's, Afghans and Americans??

Over dependence on anyone is bound to harm you. Whether it be Iron brother or plastic brother. We should look out for our own interest. Stand up on our own feet.
Abhi to Iron brother ne barry pyar see rakha hua agar kal ko USA ki tarha daant dikhaye ga to Pakistanion ki hawa khaarij ho hajaye gi.
China is a true ally.

This will be a parallel initiative to CPEC & BRI......obviously, this will be a rival since Pakistan, not China, will be the main stakeholder.

But both systems can still function....BRI/CPEC is for Chinese needs. TAPI (minus the I cuz no Indian involvement...) & other initiatives will be for Pakistani needs.

The Central Asians are already wary of Russian & Chinese influence in the region, we'll be the 3rd major party. If we don't act, others will...

India already has a base in Tajikistan......Israel has a very good relationship with Azerbaijan.....and so on.

It is time we use not only our people but our culture and military might (whatever it might be) to connect with others in our neighborhood. Other than the Russians, we share the most cultural ties with Central Asia. Time is ripe to add economic and military ties also.

Agree with this general sentiment. So true. It's been decades of missed opportunities sadly for the people of Pakistan while a select few dynasties have looted their wealth. High time now that Pakistan does something for Pakistan.

Exactly, this century will be a level playing field...

All players will get ample opportunities to claim the throne(s) of their respective regions...

If we don't act, India will. That should be enough to wake up the old geezers in the upper echelons of Pakistani leadership.

On another note....Turkey has already done so much of what I envision Pakistan should do, although with little changes here and there...

Russia has also similarly expanded its influence....both are in Syria, Libya and now Azerbaijan & Armenia, permanently.

India has a base in Tajikistan....like I mentioned earlier. So much to gain, very little to lose. :enjoy:

Are you speculating a Turko-Azerbaijani-Central Asiatic-Afghan addendum to CPEC to bypass Iran? Or even incorporating Iran?

I don't think either is realistic as an entry point for Europe as CPEC is a rival to European economic interests, rather than something to be incorporated.

(Edit: but the more I think about it, it would be intriguing. Turkey and eastern european countries specifically might well be keen on such a project....not sure about western Europe)

I think Azerbaijan itself will be opened up a bit more to Europe via Turkey by this corridor. Probably not a huge consequence. Azerbaijan's main interest for western Europe is in terms of energy, and those pipelines already exist.
Iran is already a part..

Come on man. This article is nonsense written by some Indian looking for clicks. Read the call centre style English with excessive usage of "the"....

"The relations between Pakistan and India have hit the rock bottom, the the the...."

@FuturePAF Look at my post about Turkey relocating SNA units from Syria to Kashmir
Pakistan should not get the SNA involved in Kashmir. If our nation must fight, best done with the PA.

BTW, discredit anything from the Eurasian times ; especially where it references Kurdish and Greek sources. They have an interest in maligning Turkey, so take anything they say with a huge grain of salt
