As far as İ know, you still need US permission to upgrade your own F16s even if you don't use American made equipment. Sometimes I'm even surprised that the US allows you to actually fly your legally-owned, fully paid planes. Soo generous of the US. Freeeedom

Turkey is already making AESA Radar and avionics. We can test these on JF-17.

If turks can do it , then we pakistaniz are proud of it and our fighter's shouldn't be upgraded by none other than turks . but the report says some components not all. so we would be dependent on united states too. which is not a great deal.

there are ways to bypass United states as Pakistan and turkey do mostly.

Well when turkey finishes the modernization pakistan can have it since turkey is also developing its own mission computer the most critical part once it’s developed US can bark as much as they wish but pakistan can replace that american computer with turkish one and have total control over their planes

Of course US can impose economic sanctions on pakistan or every potential customer and stop the deal my point was from military/technical perspective

Turkey almost re-manufactured whole electronics of f16, there is a program called OZGUR. Aesa radar is on the way. Engine studies are going good, probably in the next ten years we will be able to build a f16 from scratch.

I think we dont need any permission for 30 years old block 30 and 40 planes. And we are using also own mission computer and avionics.

In 2011 we got F-16 full source codes. Since then we keep equipping them with Turkish sub-systems.
