Russian economy depends too much on defence equipment. With Russia no more only market for indian defence establishment, they will look for other sources.

Russians know what side their bread is buttered- they're not going to throw away >$50 BN from India for <$1BN for Pakistan.

The world is not quite as simple as you make it out to be.

A lot of the deals that India has with Russia(like aircraft carrier and PAK-FA), there are really no other alternatives.

Some could be replaced but Russia's economy is strong now so no long term impact on it.

Also Russia has the UN veto and India would not really want to alienate Russia over a few billion dollar arm sales to Pakistan that would not threaten the numerically superior Indians anyway.

Whatever russia is doing is his business. We can not expect always specially when we are not giving anything except $$.
Does not matter what they are doing but this is time for India to speed development, specially in defence field to produce world class weapons, does not matter how, steal, copy paste from any where , or get help from US or any other country to establish local productions.

We may stick to the policy to not to harm any body but can we expect same from others ?

I agree with first half of ur statement but not with the other half in which u say that if USSR would had talked to Pakistan, it wouldn't had to retreat the way it did, IMHO, it was the open support of mighty US to both Afghanistan & Pakistan that did the trick, Pakistan in no way could have influenced the Russian decision if US would not had supported it.

Pakistan needs to radically recalibrate its relations with Russia and improve this relationship drastically. The World is changing fast and in the new World order if super powers like China and Russia support Pakistan, it will improve Pakistan's standing in the World.

Pakistan's relationship with Russia has nothing to do with India. This is a purely bilateral relationshjip between Pakistan and Russia and it must stand on its own merit, in the best interest of these two countries. Whether Indians can live with it or not is not our business and our relationship with a third country is none of their business. They should deal with their own issues.

exactly sir, sadly bhartiz are blind when it comes to take such factors in account, sooner or later as title says "reality that India will have to live with".

India acts soo biased when it comes to Russia which mark their insecurity with the issue.

I don't really see why this is not possible. I mean we have been wooing the Americans, Europeans and Jews for sometime as well. Besides if Russian involvement can stop the madness in Afghanistan, all the more better. Our companies will be in a much safer environment to invest in Afghanistan.

This realignment has been in the pipeline since the mid-2000's - everything is on the table, from defense, infrastructure, economy, investment. Also on international issues, also the Russians have promised full unconditional support in our joining the SCO.
