That will not be economical. There should be another JV for them as "Phillipines-USA-Taiwan". Economy should also be considered in any JV besides strategic value.

Man talk sensibly. Neither of them have any strategic agreements with Russians. Please remember that both are die-hard US allies are don't share a strategic theatre that we, Vietnamese and Russians share. They're more towards the "Japan and Korea" type of alliance with NATO countries. Nothing wrong of course, but to expect Russia to agree cooperating with them would be silly. They don't share such comfortable ties with the two countries.

Last night I was looking at the global fire power ranking of the strongest armed forces. It went from USA being No. 1 to Qatar being No. 55. Vietnam was not listed in top 55 as the strongest armed forces. Does anyone know the ranking of vietnam ?

China probably would Take the 2-3 Islands under Taiwans control in the SCS however Malaysia and Brunei also want a cut of it, any news about Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan about their claims ?
