What's new

Govt tells NDTV India to shut down for a day

and that would be a right thing?? Namo is right...media needs to air news not views....after Kargil and 26/11 if media has still not learned that airing sensitive information is unacceptable then i m sorry but they never will...the only issue i will have is if ndtv has been singled out...otherwise support the ban....

bhai u seriously think
that any sensitive info
worth to be known by Pakistan

would be ever made available to any media house ????

now a days of internet and camera cell phones, any mole in any country can make available photo, videos

moreover now a days with satellite efficiency as good as few cms of visuals,
I do not think that Pakistan would need NDTV to carry out covert/overt actions here

and if u think it is about news not views, then there are many news channels
constantly airing pro govt, and anti opposition views

yes it is

no need to explain yaar

if security information is so easy to get
then any tom dick harry can tell Paak about it

NDTV is the ast place for Pakistan to know the secrets

Something easily available doesn't mean that laws are not meant for something. There was clear cut instruction to all media houses after 26/11 not to air sensitive detail when an operation is on.

they should have been banned for a week. This is nothing.

In case you don't know NDTV had also been a catalyst in Godhra riots by placing misinformation and helping rioting people with information.

Modi knows all of it and knows how to handle the idiots who are in NDTV.

I say this is nothing in terms of punishment.

It's not about Pakistan using NDTV information for any purposes. It's about LAW. They broke and now punished.

ok

similarly I can say there are channels which led India almost to war with Pak recenty,
it wont be an understatement

there is some amount of truth in your views,
but such an action

will set very bad precedent

this I can say , atleast

you idiot , read the news and understand the issue first before starting off

Keep out the personal insult you dumb fucktard if you have to engage in a debate.. This is not the corner of your slum

you idiot, learn to discuss in a constructive way or stay shut
he gave his opinion, if it causes a butt hurt then give yours
don't attack him like a buffoon

yes...because live coverage can be dangerous when operation is going on...check the media role in Mumbai...Kargil and you would know what i mean..also why should we show anything sensitive irrespective of if the enemy already know about it or not??...

now a days of internet and camera cell phones, any mole in any country can make available photo, videos
nothing beats a real time info...and no...its not that easy...

are you sure??? wonder why us needed ground support from CIA and months of close monitoring when they could have used few cm of visuals from satellite?? Pakistan certainly dont have better satellites than americans no??

and if u think it is about news not views, then there are many news channels..constantly airing pro govt, and anti opposition views
and both are wrong....however welcome to new age media....this is sad but reality....

In my opinion, if I have to take the legal angle of how this will impact media houses then I would say not much.

But at you would agree that all media we have have zero knowledge on matters related to defence and security that too in a country which has fought 4 wars and lost countless lives in terrorist attacks!!

I mean what an irony??

This slap will become a caution and lesson for future reporting. If our media houses are matured then they will take it positively if not then "they" are setting a bad precedence.

That's all I will say.

bhai u really believe that this is done on rational grounds ?

isnt it a bit strange ,tht the only channel which is asking difficult questions to govt
is facing all this ?

anyway what u say is your view.

and I must tell u that the action is only by an executive action
i.e their is diffrence between
executive action, act passed by parliament and constitutional provision

though all come under article 13 or 12 ( i do not remember correctly) of the constitution
in the defination of state

but the executive decision is mostly prone to arbitrariness
and is on the weakest ground

India for all her faults and comical hyper sensationalist media was a beacon of freedom of expression in the region over the years.. A region with terrible record in freedom of press

This sets a very bad precedent

That's pretty much what I thought after coming across the news... The incident will surely leave a dent on India's image of having an independent and strong civil society. This is perhaps the first ever instance of media intimidation in India since the emergency period imposed by Indira Gandhi in the 1970s...

may be they could have been strictly scolded

but this action to me looks arbitrary

this action remiinds more of emergency

last night, at the goenka awards
the way Mr.jha spoke with Mr.Mpde sitting on the stage

it looked tha PM was not at all liking the way Jha was speaking

please watch that in youtube

Keep out the personal insult you dumb fucktard if you have to engage in a debate.. This is not the corner of your slum

next time read the article before giving usual dimwitted responses and spoil the entire discussion or better avoid such threads. NDTV is a usual culprit when it comes irresponsible reporting be it a riot coverage or an anti- terror operation , they have been criticized for the way they covered 26/11 attacks by security experts and not some political parties , just yesterday i saw an NDTV correspondent asking a police officer to give details regarding Bhopal central jail architecture and security apparatus on-air , the police officer thankfully declined to respond to that question , both their anchors & correspondents are brain dead and they should rather stick to their save our tiger campaign instead of covering an anti-terror operation , i am sure there are many other news channels in india who do that but i think it should first start with NDTV with a strict punishment to set a strong example. It has got nothing to do with press freedom as you moronically suggested.

fine would have been good

but why ban ?

You mean we should do an exact copy of the British? If we choose our own ways of penalising, it would make us lesser mortals?

BTW, even in UK license revoking is a process when media cross the red line.
