Govt asks economist Atif Mian to step down from Economic Advisory Council

Considering Atif Mian rejects the Pakistan Constitution, it was the correct decision. How can he swear an oath when he believes Ahmadiyyas are the real Muslims, contrary to our constitution?

It would be a different issue if he kept it to himself or accepted that he is a Non-Muslim Ahmadiyya, as per our law.

For all my so called liberal friends let me just simplify and explain the entire issue here. There is nothing against the minorities in pakistan, minorities can work and roam around freely nobody is stopping them, either you are Christian, Hindu, Sikh or Jew all minorities in pakistan are equally respected and deserve equal rights. The problem here is that Qadyani's or Ahmedi's dont consider themselves as being minority, they call themselves as muslims and at the same time they don't believe in Prophet Mohammad as last Prophet of Allah, instead they have their own leader who calls himself as prophet. As per islamic laws and constitution of pakistan all such people cannot be called as muslims, nobody is against qadyani's if they call themselves and consider themselves as being minority rather than muslims.

Perfect example of a low-IQ so-called Muslim. Atif Mian being appointed in an economic advisory role was going to change the discriminatory laws against his community?

okay guys..it is over now. Let's hope such mistakes are not repeated in the future. Keep your calm guys and no need to abuse each other. I'm sure it will be new day tomorrow.

That's the problem. You think it was "such a mistake". The sun always comes up, so why care if ahmadis think they're muslims? No amount of legislation has changed their mind. Yet the same oppressive actions have hurt Pak.

Pinky peerni must be behind this. We are moving towards stone age.

That's what i figured. I don't care about her dress and I support her and oppose those that try to call what a women wear's into question and connect it to anything else. But I was afraid of what was inside her head and how that might influence IK for the bad. If i recall she was also behind the original Atif Mian flareup back about a few years ago...

You people must be really dumb to think that. If it were her's decision and if she had this much control, Atif's name wouldn't have appeared in the list in the first place.

Whining about murder of merit ........... and you yourselves can't have a merit based discussion.

That's the issue of false identity and it is not allowed anywhere in the world. Now if I start manufacturing cars or import from China, I ask the designers to copy the design shape and style of Mercedes-Benz and then market it as Mercedez-Benz, will I be allowed to do that in any civilised part of the world.
Furthermore, that's the topic for different thread and has been discussed and the constitution of Pakistan settled in 1973.
I don't want to engage in a endless discussion. And I totally support the decision taken by the state of Pakistan.

PTI should have anticipated the strong reaction to his appointment in the first place- and once they officially nominated him and vocally backed him against criticism; they should have stuck their ground. They now appear weak, unprepared and worse of all cowards who succumb to bigotry. Is the official position of GoP that Ahmadis have no role in Pakistani society?

And before people start attacking mullahs, let’s not forget it was Bhutto who introduced this law in the first place. Self-claimed liberals and “democracy saviors” also led the charge against this gentleman. It’s a collective failure and people should ponder where they want to lead Pakistan to. Maybe start removing the white portion of the flag just to clarify everything.

Who gave you right to call entire nation as being retard ? and BTW if an Ahamedi/ Qadyani is working against the interest of our country he or she must leave the country before being thrown out from here its as simple as that.

What’s your evidence that he was working against the interest of the country?

Their information minister instead of issuing strong verbal statements to support his party's decision and defending Atif's religious affiliation, should have focused more on explaining why Atif's appointment was done, on what basis, what entailed his appointment, but all he did was defend him as a Qadiyani and nothing about the skills that man has.

Actually, self-identifying is allowed all over the world except for Pak (and maybe Indonesia) and is a basic human right. Your analogy sucks because human beings are not an issue of ip or trademark. A closer analogy is indians forcefully calling (and legislatively identifying) all muslims inside the territory it currently controls as hindus and then isolating them, shunning them, and killing them until they do a conversion to hinduism to fall into the definition a bigoted majority has set out for them. All of this is already happening and is known as hindutva (both soft congressi or rigid bjp). And yet people rightfully call them out and condemn them.

Are you talking about merit, whole Musharaf, PMLN and PPPP team is in PTI. Ajkal to MQM, PTI b bhaie bhaie!
This combination will create record for looting money even if Imran khan not then his team surely.

That's because people were attacking the appointee for being ahmedi. A govt that truly cares for the rights (and lives) of all of its people need to take on the hatred and oppression directed towards a certain section of Pakistanis.

Here is my take on this. Atif mian was a great fit for this job. He was a great thinker. For PTI the took it as a political decision because fall out.of this decision was getting bigger. Yes Atif mian was great fit for this job but there are also better options out there.

On the whole I am not happy on his dismissal because now this has become very symbolic. He was rejected for being minority. This is bad omen. Instead the very first choice should have been made wisely so things should not come this far.
First quadiani don't think theirself as minority but they think rest of us as kafir. Secondly, they're big supporter of Israel. PTI did the right thing, but support voice of most of the nation against few (democratic decision).

I'm in office and I already said I don't want to indulge in this off-topic and irrelevant discussion. I hope you can respect it. Have a nice day

Does anyone know the population of Qadyanis in Pakistan?

A wise decision at the end. I was fearing that foolish people around IK would advise him to 'brave it out' just like all other controversies.
But sense prevailed and PTI responded to the sensitivities of the nation. Nations only progress when they don't comprise their core values to appease others.

I would love to witness the mourning and outrage of the desi liberal and Qadiyani party now. Let it commence [emoji23]View attachment 497126
