What's new

Give us 5th Gen technology for fighter orders: IAF

The new Rafale that's coming up is incredible. 360 degree radar, stealth in all relevant wavelengths, even low band, ie 0.5GHz to 40GHz.
Is the so-called 'new Rafale' sixth-generation fighter???

And you want them to just hand over technology they have spent decades and billions perfecting????

Well no one is requesting. We are just saying, if you want our money, give us what we ask for. Else go to hell. :p:

Except the mighty USAF,no one have any clue on what f22 is. rafale Claim on superiority over f22 is just bullshit.

It wasnt the french but the modians.
Buy rafale and the french will do all the work to make a 5th gen while modians sleeps as in sleeping partner

LoL

Nope.

Whatever performance advantage the F-22 has over the Rafale is nullified because of the Meteor. But in terms of cost, avionics and mission capability, the Rafale is better than the F-22.

Maybe yes, maybe no, because we don't know what 6th gen really is. It's more of a 5+ gen rather.

The Rafale F4 will have 6th gen avionics. It will be a completely unified system. And it will be stealthy in much wider bands than regular 5th gen aircraft are. For example, the F-22 will be detected using a VHF radar, but the Rafale won't be.

Do you have any idea about what f22 is. Do you believe that a small seeker in a missile can have lock on stealth fighter? If your answer is yes ,then I will stop arguing.

The F-35 is stealthier than the F-22.

And this is what the Israelis are saying:
https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2016/04/israel-will-heavily-modify-their-f35.html
In 2012 Aviation Week article indicated that low radar cross section is a niche capability [aka stealth], and new sensor technology advances can make it less important. China, India and Russia are already finding weaknesses in stealth as they develop it for their own advanced strike aircraft. A senior Israeli Air Force official as saying (of the F-35) “We think the stealth protection will be good for 5–10 years, but the aircraft will be in service for 30–40 years.”

Even the Israelis think the F-35's stealth, which is better than the F-22's, is not good enough.

Here's what ACM Dhanoa said about the J-20.
http://www.asianage.com/india/all-india/061017/can-strike-pakistan-nuclear-targets-iaf-chief.html
“The J20 does not have full stealth capability. That way, the perfect stealth aircraft would be the American B-2 bomber, just look at its shape. So the J20 would not be invisible to our radars. Moreover, the new state-of-the-art technology fighters like the Rafale that we are acquiring would be able to detect an incoming J20.”

This is among the many reasons why the USAF believes the F-22 is no longer good enough in a 2030 environment.

http://www.af.mil/Portals/1/documents/airpower/Air Superiority 2030 Flight Plan.pdf
Threat capabilities are likely to advance along two major vectors over the next 15 years. First, traditional threat systems will continue to evolve and proliferate. Along this threat vector are advanced fighter aircraft, sensors, and weapons. While near-peers have most of these capabilities today, advanced air and surface threats are spreading to other countries around the world. Air superiority forces will face growing numbers of these threats across a wide range of locations and scenarios in 2030.

The second threat vector is a series of comprehensive capabilities with a less predictable impact on warfare. These include increased threat capabilities to negate our advantages in the space domain, increased quantity and sophistication of cyberspace threats, and air threats including hypersonic weapons, low observable cruise missiles, and sophisticated conventional ballistic missile systems. How, when and where these capabilities emerge is less clear, but it is certain air superiority forces will face many of these threats by 2030.

The Air Force’s projected force structure in 2030 is not capable of fighting and winning against this array of potential adversary capabilities.

Translation: The F-22 and F-35 are not good enough.

The J-20, F-22, F-35 etc are not as stealthy as it's made out to be. Or you don't want to believe your own ACM's words?

Yes, a small seeker can lock on to the F-22 as long as the Rafale can guide it properly towards the F-22. Seekers are really good at this, especially because they work at low ranges.

You're taking stuff out of context

Wishful thinking by India. No ones shares hard earned technology unless the technology is obsolete.

This is one such design.

It's a decade old and has changed since then, because of GaN technology.
now what you've done is exactly what you've just said, its a design and its old. heck even looking at the image i can see there's no antenna array for the rear of the jet.

Those who need to know, know it.

Chinese J-20 stealth fighter not cause for concern, Rafale too has stealth features: Air Marshal

There are many other features too which I would not like to disclose at this stage,” he said.

The French advertise their capabilities only to relevant people, they do not really publish it in papers.

We didn't take 10 years, we took 1.5 years.

And AMCA is our next gen aircraft meant for induction after Rafale's induction is complete. The French want to be involved in the project too.

Perhaps the Chinese will cancel the J-20 because, according to India's "Air Marshal", it would be "inferior" to a Rafale-class fighter like the J-10C. :disagree:

so with that logic our euro fighter typhoon, which is better than the rafale, is a 6th gen fighter.
@KAL-EL how about you yanks buy our typhoon, it is 6th gen :azn:. heck we even even include TOT
We Yanks might as well give up on our 6th gen.

All R&D should immediately be suspended because it will already be too primitive and a waste of time.

It's over for us

screw this place, join elon musk and the vision to occupy Mars, just make sure you'll let me tag along.

as for the fighter jets, i fear us brits will lose the race to the indians. we may have to bite the bullet and buy the tejas mk3.....with tot .:woot:...........unless........we join forces and occupy them again
