Hundreds of political workers took to the streets and raised slogans against the government, calling for re-elections in LA-1, LA-2 and LA-3 constituencies.

The PML-N candidate in LA-1, Jafarullah, and his supporters held a demonstration outside the Supreme Appellate Court to challenge the results of some polling stations in the constituency.

Several other demonstrations were held in different parts of the city in which enraged protesters blocked roads.

During a demonstration jointly organised by PML-Q, MQM and independent candidates from LA-3, protesters made a sit-in at the Danyore chowk. They later took out processions which terminated outside Radio Pakistan, Gilgit.

Official result:

PPPP: 12
PML-N: 2
PML-Q: 2
JUI: 1
MQM: 1
Independents: 3
ANP: 0
JI: 0
PTI: 0

According to the Election Commission, LA-3 and LA-17 will have re-election on Nov. 18.

LA-19 election was postponed due to the death of a candidate and I have not seen a date for eletcion in LA-19.

The break-up of 33-memer House is this: 24 members elected directly; 9 reserved seats (3 for technocrats and six for females).

PPPP has majority and should be able to form govt. without any alliance. There are news that one independdent member has joined PPPP (the 12 seats include that one memeber).

So the controversy is primarily over the three mentioned constituencies, of which one is to be redone according to the CeC?

Wouldn't really alter the result drastically even if a party other than the PPP won all three. The PPP appears to have a majority and the right to form a government in G-B.

Not surprising really I suppose - the MQM was always a long shot as a relatively new party on the national stage, still trying to shed its 'ethnic identity based politics tag', and the religious configuration of G-B would have always been a tough sell for the PML-N which has been reluctant in opposing Taliban extremism.

Yes, it seesm like those two re-elections would solve all problems. PML-Q chief acceptedf the results and then protests in G-B don't make any sense.

Besides the work in Karachi and during the earthquake, MQM has been lucky because there is a lot of support from the Ismailis (Agha Khanis) for MQM in Karachi so their Jamaat Khana must have played an importnant role for MQM in G-B elections.

What is the definition of political party in Pakistan?
Just wondering....

Who is eligible to make a party?

What does constitution of Pakistan says about it and what is the real story...

Why do we even need political parties which did not deliver what they say..

Why do we even need to give them a chance when they betrayed us…

It includes all the political parties which got main seats like PPP, PML-N, PML-Q, Mullana Fazal ur Rehman or Mullana diesel, MQM or Altaf Bhai and the list goes on…I cannot say anything about Imran Khan because he never got a leader role but he seems to be a nice guy till now….

I personally like NS but I don’t think they should be given a chance…they got many times, now they should rest along with their families…

Altaf Bhai should be awarded the voice of the universe...
:smitten:

I hope it will not derail the thread…if it does than my bad…
