MQM blames govt for firing on G-B candidates

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Quami Movement’s MNA Wasim Akhtar Thursday alleged that government is involved in firing on MQM’s candidates in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Speaking in Geo News program, Wasim Akhtar said election results are being manipulated, asking the President to intervene and bring a halt to, what he called, the rigging in the ongoing G-B polls so that derailment of democracy can be stopped.

He said it would be difficult for MQM to accept the results if what he called the rigging in Gilgit-Baltistan is not stopped.

MQM crying :what:

MQM should be celeberating instead of crying :)

They have won their first seat of Sindh.

PPPP's victory, thus far, only solidify them as the only national party despite the popularity of Zardari.

And I'm expecting altaf's ranting in sometime after final result is announced. Still, it doesn't make MQM a national party. Neither PML-N is a national party, by and large. Yeah, I agree with you about PPP being a national party. And perhaps you mean to say "despite the 'unpopularity' of Zardari" :P

so far close contests per the unofficial results:

LA-21 won by Ghulam Muhammad of PPP. He secured 4961 votes against Independent Candidate Muhammad Ayub Shah who secured 4894 votes

******************

PML-N could have done better with an alliance with JI and PTI. They cut each others' votes.

All those ballot boxes counted coincidentally had PPP's winning candidates in a line one by one??
Not a coincidence perchance then I'm expecting PPP to get seats between 12-15

As I said yesterday, I wonder why PTI didn't contest. It'd have been better for IK if he had embroiled himself in G-B elections. All his potential of winning or loosing along with popularity would have become known had he contested. It was a good opportunity for him anyway. G-B was a sort of neutral zone until this election, as no elections have ever happened there in past.

And I must say, Independent Candidates have striven much better than any political party. So far, the results warrant it.

What does that mean? Can you elaborate?

There must be some rigging but I don't think PPPP will get away with murder.

You can see PPP's candidates winning consecutively -- one after other I mean. What does that suggest? Is it just a coincidence that 9 out of 13 constituencies's votes counted so far are won by PPP.

If I talk about probability, then I can expect PPP to win seats between 12-15.

I see ... in last elections, PML-N in Punjab and MQM in Karachi had similar luck. There are only 23 results and if PPPP supporters are concentrated in a region then it is possible also keep in mind that other parties are not contesting against PPPP on wide scale so in some cases people don't have a choice.

I will wait till the end result is out though.
