He is retired and can do whatever he wants with his life. Why government of Pakistan is intruding?
Also Iran will never be a friend of a Sunni majority country . It's stupid to alienate existing long term friends the Arabs , just to appease Iran which cannot be appeased.

If its true, it shouldn't come as a surprise. General Raheel Shareef has repeatedly stated that he or Pakistan won't be a part of any alliance that goes against Iran. It was one of the preconditions set by him for the position.

Why are Pakistani's worried about Iran?
Iran has never been our friend. They allowed india to setup their counsel offices in small villages in Iran along Baluchistan border to train and terrorists in to Baluchistan.
Iran has always trained and armed Shia militants in Pakistan and sponsored sectarian conflicts.
They have been transgressing in the recent past and attacking Pakistani check posts.
Iran has been involved in terrorism in almost every Muslim country.

Best to let GHQ decide taking into consideration the present situation. By the way not surprised the way saudi's made a donkey out of themselves by commiting $380 billion in the next 10 years to Americans!

common guys, just come and look at the current Saudi egotistic people, man they are not worth General Raheel's leadership.

Believe me after Bindranwala we don't have real leadership and if he leads us believe me within one year you need visa to visit Punjab.

Supposing that does happen and you do get Khalistan, then what comes after that? The youth of Punjab has been lost to drugs smuggled in from you-know-where. As a narco-state, Punjab has no future unless the Akalis are wiped out from the state. How will Khalistan get rid of the drug menace and survive without Indian help?

I am just trying to gauge what goes on in your mind - whether you have a roadmap or just empty dreams of Khalsa. If you have something concrete then please do share.

The lifeline principle of NATO = Article 5 of the alliance's charter, NATO's core tenet, that says an attack against one ally is considered as an attack against all.

Now if an Arab NATO is to take place, I am sure they would have similar common principle too.
Therefrom, if Pakistan is the member of this Arab NATO, what does it mean for India to attack Pakistan?

After the 1971 war, Pakistan is mostly secure with its nuclear weapons which works as deterrence.
Mini war as Kargil (not full fledged) nonetheless.

With the membership in Arab NATO, Pakistan would create an extra layer of security for itself.
Saudi's 300 billion $ stretched over ten years is a sure & certain sign of an Arab NATO waiting the wings.

Complex web of implication & ramification for India.

this news has not yet confirmed by any authentic source therefore i consider it more like a gossip

If he decide to come back, it won't be because of Iran. This whole thing has been turned into American and Saudi affair. Raheel was there on the condition that he won't be answerable to anyone. Playing second fiddle to bedouin and worst, to yanks is in itself is a disgrace.

It seems Iran is too important for Pakistan since by leading this alliance Pakistan could milk if not Billions but Millions of USD plus unlimited access to US made military hardware but they decided in favor of Iran they very unpredictable nation of earth with very shady future.

Its nothing to do with Iran. Just check the events over last week. This alliance is causing divisions within GCC itself. Qatar is backing off from it. In return, Saudis banned AlJazeera. Qatar is involved in CPEC projects, Afghan mediation (Afghan Taliban office in Doha). There is a Turkish military base in Qatar as well. Turkey too due to historical reasons is not comfortable with Saudis leading a muslim bloc. Turkey has developed robust relations with Pakistan to balance out the Saudi factor in recent past.
Iran is one of the reasons. It shares 900km border with Pakistan. At a time when Pakistan has operationalized its forward operating bases due to Indian obduracy and threats, it is not in Pakistan to openly declare Iran an adversary. Especially in the background of CPEC, which literally starts 70-100 km from Iranian border. Iran is being engaged through ECO platform and an Iranian senior military delegation visited Islamabad on May 21st.
Pakistan seeks deft diplomacy which is multifaceted. Aim is to have robust bi-lateral relations with Saudi Arabia and working relationship with Iran.

I am sure some Saudis will argue General Raheel's leadership is not worth much

To be honest, I personally don't care about Iran. This is more about learning from history:

1. In recent history, there has been one war against Iran. The Iran/Iraq war. The hallmarks of this war were:
a. A dictator.
b. Pumped up on American backing.
c. Supplied American weapons from oil money.
d. Got his head too high in the air and thought he actually has some sort of military might.
c. In the end both Iran and Iraq got played by Russia/America who sold them just enough weapons to keep fighting for 8 years, with no result.

The current situation looks hauntingly like a b and c. My prediction is d or worse. Plain and simple logic says don't go there.

If we borrow again from history, the successful template to counter Russian imperialistic designs was Afghanistan. Yes, Syria needs our help, but not in the form of overt confrontation. Our best bet is to support Turkey against Kurds and here the Muslim Ummah can provide overt moral and material support. Meanwhile, non-terrorist Sunni independence groups should be supported. Something like MANPADS should be supplied to them. The ISI and SSG can help.

But back in Pakistan, thus country needs someone like Gen Raheel Sharif at the helm. Right now Indian moles are disgracing us right from the top. If our nation is literally led by the enemy how can we ever be successful?

Truth is, Pakistan is actively doing a good/decent job of balancing GCC and Iran out. Is not easy, its not cost free, but Pakistan is succeeding at it(and its a risky game). Also, this withdrawal IMO is confirmation that this ISN'T a "neutral" alliance as we've all been told.
