France offers 25% discount to India on purchase of 36 Rafale jets

India's price haggling is world renown. So Daussault price the plane at 300mil. India is happy to bring it down to 200 mil and France is also happy to sell it at 200mil. Both sides now are happy. LOL
that is not just fly away cost but cost of spares , maintainence & training of personell & armaments coustamising (life cycle cost )since your a american can you tel us what is the life cycle cost of say F16 BLK 60 ?

had the UPA done it all paid media would have gloated about the fly away cost onli 4.2 billon dollars aprrox but since niether the media nor the beurocracy is having any cuts here they now want to nail modi goverment for this so called "faliure"

. .
Cross posting from the other thread where i said the below thing

price per aircraft is not just the acquisition cost of the platform, but also includes maintenance facilities, training of pilots and technicians, armaments and spares.

Can Someone say if everything is converted to R100 then whats the percentage share of that denomination between the platform cost, armament, maintenance, training, spares etc
This will make it clear to everyone the true cost of MMRCA something which all folks forget that armaments and many other things were suppose to be part of a separate deal.
Interestingly, i believe cost of platform acquisition wont be more than R50-60 meaning at best around 100-120 Mn. Perhaps it tells the story of the overall cost (which was never escalated rather never understood properly and hence the word used by most folks)

Since its in a flyaway condition so lets not harp on any substantial TOT as its not practically feasible for just 36 orders.

Importantly is it just 25% on the flyaway cost or the overall deal including maintenance, training, spares etc. if its on overall deal then its a precusor to a much larger deal as it clearly implies Dassault and French government wants to keep GOI/MOD happy with price.

. . .
Just another poor Indian media report, based on hearsay, false conclusions and speculations.

DM Parrikar stated several times, that the MMRCA tender would cost around $18 billions, which translates into a unit cost of around $142 million each Rafale!

The author has took the cost for Qatar as a benchmark, which is silly, since that is a new deal with Dassault, while the Indian deal is meant to be one with the French government, for fighters they have on order. The Qatar deal comes with development costs and a good profit margin for Dassault, while the Indian deal is based on the flyaway cost France paid and whatever they are ready to reduce. So different orders => therefor different costs!

Lower numbers = higher unit costs! 36 x Gripen E will cost $150 millions each for Brazil (with licence production though), while 24 F18SH were sold for around $192 millions to Australia.

At the end of the day not the unit or total deal cost is important, but what you get in return and a
y deal that will get us fighters produced abroad only, logically gets us far less in return for the money we spend!

. . .
it is good plane
It may be a good plane but lack of any futuristic technologies, like DSI. Name me any technology that any other 4.5 gen plane does not have. It has just got better versions.

. . .
8 Billion for 36 when 12 Billion was for 126, please help me understand how exactly this is good news, it looks like it will take huge number to get 126.

35 Billion holy shit
Its the right price,12 billion was the estimated price back in 2004. Its around 4-5 now for ac and 2-3 for training, weapons etc but it doesn't mean life cycle cost. I.e they will have to pay again for any upgrades

.
Lol why ?

egypt deal costs €5.2 billion it includes 24 rafale , 96 mica , 250 aasm bombs + training and fast delivery + 1 Fremm Frigate includes training and ammo but no one know certain numbers

. .
MMRCA is a classic example which amply shows India and particularly MoD has no freaking expertise when it comes to concept of TCO - total cost of ownership.
