First P8I Squadron dedicated to the nation at Aarkonam

Aarkonam, Nov 13: The Indian Navy on Friday added more power to its air wing when the first squadron of Boeing P8I long-range maritime patrol aircraft was dedicated to the nation. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar did the honours on a wet day in the company of Navy Chief Admiral R K Dhowan and other top military dignitaries.

The event was held at INS Rajali, Indian Navy's air station in Aarkonam, Tamil Nadu. Armed with the mighty Harpoon anti-ship missile, the P8I Squadron (INAS 312a) will boost Navy's activities such as anti-surface warfare, long-range anti-submarine warfare, surveillance and reconnaissance and littoral missions.

They need at least 2 more squadrons.
One in Gujarat, One in A&N,

World's biggest refinery is at Jamnagar Gujarat. Pakistan's choicest target.
Where will you move it in such case?
P-8 is nothing compared to Indian military assets concentrated on the kutch/Bhuj border.

Sorry but there's no plan to move any MPA base in Gujarat so far. Arakonam in Eastern coast and Dabolim in western coast( later Karwar once ready) have them. Though they may base few aircrafts in sensitive areas on rotation basis( like P-8Is are spotted in A&N bases every now and then).
