What's new

First lot of 40 Arjun mk2 fully operational soon

Yes,only if ARDE can pull its socks up and churn out an world class kinetic energy round for it asap!!The present one has become hopelessly outdated and inadequate for defeating the type of armor that Indian Army is expected to face!!Unless and until that happens,Arjun will remain the mightiest sparring tank......in the way that it can take a lot of hits and literally spit those out but never dishing out any effective blows in return!!

I would rather be happier if we could get our hands on something like the Leopard 2A7,it's a proven and matured technology. But Armata will do I hope.

That is importing too!!This whole tot drama is just that - a big drama and nothing else!!Because no one in the world parts with any technology. They only part with industrial production methodologies & thgis is known as ToT. So, without the former, the latter becomes only licenced-production. Consequently, all this ToT can NEVER be applied for the development or production of any other product.
As for India have to pay exorbitant amounts of money for weapons procurements & the kind ToT that never translates into indigenous product solutions, this has been going on since the 1960s itself with regard to the IAF.If you desire a product that is cheaper to buy then you have to forego this stupid & preposterous option of licenced-production. A Su-30MKI costs only Rs.242 crores if imported from Russia, but costs Rs.358 crores if built in India. Therefore,if you do the math, you will conclude that just for the sake of keeping less than 5,000 workers of HAL engaged in some form of industrial activity, India has had to fork out an extra Rs.35,000+ crores for licence-building 272 Su-30MKIs! What kind of economic/commercial logic is that? And in what way has all this effort helped India with the LCA’s R & D endeavours? You therefore need to rationalize & analyse with a cool head all these inputs, & not blindly believe all the trash & utter baloney that successive Govts of India have force-fed the Indian public about the mythical (not tangible) merits of licenced-production & self-sufficiency in defence production. In other words, a long overdue reality check is direly reqd. Remember, that Rs.35,000 crores could easily have been saved & invested in the Rafale project had the Govt of India decided to import the Su-30MKIs off-the-shelf.Therefore,as evidenced from above, one should always get one’s priorities right, and have a clear vision as to what they really need!!
Regards...........

Sir, you need to correct your facts. I do agree that of the shelf products will cost you less but all the money, 240 odd cr will go to the exporting nation without any benefit to the importing nation.
Where as when you produce the product in our own production line, you earn experience, your supply lines and vendors gain experience and much needed confidance. By the way for your information we are only importing metal blocks from Russia. Rest all is done in India. Even we are manufacturing engine for MKI from scratch in India.

So what is your takeaway....
Though we pay more more than 50% money stays in India and at the end we pay much less to the exporting nation.

Reread my comment once again, this time slowly and more carefully!!And please don't call me Sir!!I'm just another folk like you are!!Thank you.

Bhai, this tank is way better than the T-90M which India operates. The additional ERA blocks which have been fitted on the turret reduces it's vulnerability to incoming tandem warheads to a great extent. In short,it's a beast and will literally devour the so called "3rd generation" mbts of our neighbors for breakfast;)

 just like Arjun MKI?

It's just another white elephant wing pushed down Indian army's throat...

Same the same obsolete gun,the same design flaws (the front - with the imagery system in the turret (which can be penetrate by probably even a 7.62 AP round or at max a 12ish MG.... No effective ammunition.. And to heavy to even transport by your rail network..

:)

There is a good reason Indian military ordered over a thousand T-90s.

We won't see Leopard tanks in Indian Army.

And more over thank me later. Armata is on the way. Mark my words today ;) It's not my wish by wish of our Indian Army. And talks are on for ToT and production deal. Will formally start during PM Modi visit to Moscow. T90 ToT got fcuked up true but rules of the games has changed now. Am not saying we will get full ToT wrapped in gift box. But we will get what we need. And we are China to produce same weapon to challenge the seller themselves. But Using same technology techniques for upgraded indigenous systems with our own innovation. It's better for Russia than Chinese making copy cat version without any bills attached. Our FMBT program can't be a success with delays. Well at least not like Arjun. This will be more precise with Russian help in return we keep their locker filled.

So be it :D Nothing is free in this world except Mother's and Father's love ;)

I'll bet the Russians wont even respond to the FRCV tender by the army. Let alone pitch the Armata with a local player in India.

They didnt give armor or the barrel for the T90, what are they going to give for Armata? They even had a problem when India tried to put a AC in the tank at first. Screw that.

Only one we know of who entered a proposal for the FRCV are the TATAs. I doubt the Russians will even enter the competitions.

U r missing a elephant in the room. Our goal is not to have more imported tanks. We already going for more T90 upgraded version and Arjun 2 charming our very well. But our aim is for future. Future in the sense two major things. 1) Modular design and construction technology. 2)Human Less Robot tank. The whole new ball game. Armata is just years away to achieve them. These both will be our investment for the future battles. Long story short!!! Massive technology leap and superiority against China.

Yes, I know of the FRCV requirements by the army, and you can bet the Russians wont respond by giving their newest to some public, or private firm in India.

No tenders... Who can bid against Armata? None. It will be government to government deal. Which comes along with new T90s and upgrades for the old T90. India should realise and be realistic about the need for massive military build up. Instead of waiting for tanks been developed and then inducted we should be ready for buy and make and train our workforce for high quality high technology weapon systems. Our delays in Tejas is not only due to short sight but also unprofessionalism in put the part together (assembly line). We use more man power than needed.

Yes, OFB, pubic same thing. :D

Yes, tender, matter a fact, I think the army just extended that tender, RFI. TATA is one of the known contenders.

Dude that's for FRCV... With Kresteral!!! Not FMBT. Which will be developed to replace T72 in huge numbers. Armata will be around more than 600-1000...

Kids,they never learn,do they?? :D

You thank me later :D

Kestral isnt a part of the FRCV. FRCV is a platform, the main platform being an MBT.

That source unknowning put a Kestral on the page. Two separate things.

We dont know the TATA design, or who they're working with. But they have a solid concept it seems. To actually enter the competitions like that, TATA has serious balls..

 just like Arjun MKI?

It's just another white elephant wing pushed down Indian army's throat...
Yada yada yada blah blah blah!!
Same the same obsolete gun,
The gun is not obsolete by any means!!Just because it's a rifled design, doesn't make it obsolete!!There are very few tank guns that can endure a chamber pressure of more than 720 MPa (apart from the Rheinmetall L/55 smooth barrel, which is the undisputed best tank gun so far)!!
the same design flaws (the front - with the imagery system in the turret (which can be penetrate by probably even a 7.62 AP round or at max a 12ish MG....
So what??Even the Char Leclerc has got a similar configuration for GMS placement!!It's not really that big a target and that too, placed on the upper corner!!Good luck hitting that window from 2000 yards away!!
No effective ammunition..
Only for the time being!!But this happened due largely to the uncertainty to the future of the project and less so for any lack in capabilities!!
And to heavy to even transport by your rail network..
Ummm........no.Not correct!!

:)

There is a good reason Indian military ordered over a thousand T-90s.
Yes,there is.And that is because Arjun came a little bit too late.By the time (around 2008) Arjun prototypes began to show some promise, the order for the license production of T 90S was already placed and could not have been reversed. Then there were those in the DGMF who had some how came to the conclusion that Indian Army didn't need a 60 ton class MBT since you guys had declined the Abrams offer also made things worse for Arjun,so on and so forth.

Dude that's for FRCV... With Kresteral!!! Not FMBT. Which will be developed to replace T72 in huge numbers. Armata will be around more than 600-1000...
Dude, you are quite definitely one confused soul!! :D

Yes, OFB, pubic same thing. :D
Oh,so it was intentional.Can't blame you though.Actually,can blame you.......for insulting pubic!!Bloody faggot,how do you dare insulting pubic!! :D :D
