bro is there any details datashit or comparison with F-35 VS RAFALE?
BECAUSE IAF receving F-35..............
They are very different but, for now one could say, same level on average.
The F-35 is based on stealth first and networkcentricity second.
The Rafale is do-it-all first ( infamous omnirole ) and networkcentric second.
Both were supposed to be relatively low-budget but the F-35 includes many
goodies that hike cost. To stay both stealthy and cheap, the US plane is a
single engine for example so more at risk if hit. Stealth better work great.
Rafale having given less to stealth depends on Spectra but more importantly
keeps the upper hand on aerodynamic effects; it should fare well in BFM vs
the F-35. That's normal, the BVR and dogfight American uberJet is the Raptor.
A downside of having kept costs down better is that it lacks a HMCS however
so the dogfight advantage may not be that huge.
Many other differences will have to wait to show up because the Lightning II
is behind schedule. We'll know more around 2019-20 when it is flown more.
This said, the main reason for a country choosing either is likely not performance.
If you want a tighter relationship with Washington, you won't pick the French AC
whereas if you want one plane only to save on infrastructures and so on, you will.
The question becomes what air superiority do you have to fly above the F-35.
Israel at present uses the F-15 and will for a while yet. Others have the Typhoon
or MKI, etc. You have to remember how much money Washington gives to Israel.
Getting US planes is always cheaper for them which is why they let go of the Kfir,
Lavi experiment in fine. But their electronic kit is homemade and excellent.
That might be the caveat you'll find tough to swallow. On average and until proven
otherwise, I'd give the Rafale on top if single fleets of each faced. The advantage
of the first day capacity taunted by the F-35 program should ebb quickly and the
Rafale can face high-load ADs too. But Israel is no Belgium, Norway and co.
Because they do have a mixed fleet and top notch EW of a different type, they are
likely the favourite here. For day one ops or single air raid, Israel has the edge.
Of course, apart from the USA themselves, Israel and the UK, etc, other users with
JSF only would be lacking versus a Rafale only AF.
Then again, neither fighter is a magic wand so training, weapons and other such
considerations all play a role in different cases.
Hope it helps, have a great day, Tay.
