What's new

First Armed UAV has been Successfully Tested

Anka-S was thought to carry Satcom

Also known as the Anka-S, the Anka B features a more expansive payload to the pre-series/basic Anka Block A. This includes a new high-definition (HD) electro optical infrared (EOIR) payload including a laser designator/laser rangefinder, an Aselsan/MilSOFT synthetic aperture radar (SAR), satellite communications (SATCOM), an encrypted datalink and an indigenous flight control computer.

The first flight of the production-standard Anka B comes just over four years after the initial Anka prototype first flew in December 2010.

Thé delaying reason is tuaf's new conditions Thats why tai still working on it. Bayraktar and Anka are different class. Do not compare them one is 650 kg other is 1500kg. Thanks to usa that didn't sell us Reaper or predator now we are producing our own uav's.i hope the competition between tai and baykar, we can see new developments about tai side maybe they work harder or quicker...

Anka-S was thought to carry Satcom, radar and new flir, until it will get more stronger local engine, it might not be able to carry additional missiles with all these added weights..
Zarvan is right about Baykar... ;)
I was making jokes about TAI "working really hard" to achieve MKEK level of incompetence. Initially it was unreasonable to expect a UAV equipped with a 2.0l diesel engine to meet TurAF's requirements so TAI fucked up there

But the delays in the project had more to do with just stupid decision making rather than TAI's incompetence

ANKA would still be very useful to the land forces without SATCOM antenna and the current altitude it could climb. ANKA-A should still go to production. Whoever made that call was an idiot.

I doubt ANKA-S will be able to carry any weapons, that'll have to wait for ANKA-TP for now

I like the text on the loads. Black "Throw me, not the other one", and the red goes "You're saying you'll throw me, but you don't". I guess it's well deserved attempt on humour :) Since they've managed to reach this level in such a short time.

congrats, look like the Chinese ch-3 or the Italian falco.

Except it climbs much higher and has a longer endurance.. it lasts as long as ANKA-A which is impressive

It's all around better than falco... ch3 isn't even comparable

What are you insinuating ? :-)

better source :

Bayraktar TB2 Tactical UAV - Army Technology

The tactical UAV has a range of more than 150km and can fly at a maximum altitude of 22,500ft. It has a maximum speed of 70kt and endurance of more than 20 hours.

Bayraktar TB2 UAV can carry a maximum payload of more than 55kg.

In some sources it is written that Bayraktar has triple redundant systems.

. . .
6m wing span vs 12... 4km operational ceiling vs 8

I think ch3 is more comparable to Vestel Karayel
So it is bigger and fly higher is this a replacement to the Anka or just another project?. I wish one day both countries Iraq and Turkey have some partnership in military projects.

Thanks.

It's not a replacement for ANKA... ANKA is still more capable with it's synthetic aperature radar and has a higher resolution FLIR

And I'd like to be more optimistic about future relations with Iraq but the current political turmoil doesn't give me much hope. ISIS occupies half of Iraq and Iraqi government complains about a couple of Turkish outposts I mean what the fvck?

btw @Combat-Master Baykar makina states that they had a 24 hour endurance record in their website but that was probably without weapons load.

I still find that impressive
