Fifth-gen fighter: India asks Russia to resolve tech-sharing, costing

. . .
Wanglaokan post.

^^^ lol Chinese product!!! Enough said !!! And comparing with Russian!!! What they did 50 years back, you still cant do that!!! Over estimate yourself but don't do that so much that you fall and never rise!

Russians are two gen ahead of China is tech and research. The End.

.
Two Chinese fifth gen fighters already flying! We need to mount pressure on Putin.

AMCA should be given more fund and put it on fast track.

India should cancel this FGFA a deal and focus on AMCA.

Russian refuse to let Indian have full access to the 5th generation technology for their own protection, India ambition to learn all need to know from the Russian technology expertise and will dis Russian to build India own 5th generation aircraft. Russia protect their advance 5th generation technology in other to maintain an edge with their military industry, they will never give away key technology for just over 5 billions dollar down payment fee.

True for the Viki issue, but our leverage here is limited to the extend of our technical capabilities. They just need to look at our development failures on indigenous engine and radar and the aircraft design problems we have, to understand where we stand in developing an own stealth fighter and the only other alternative would be the F35 which comes with operational and industrial limitations we actually can't accept, not to mention that Chinas developments in this field putting us under pressure to get to a counterpart soon too. So there are several reasons why our position to negotiate is difficult and that puts the Russians at the higher end, but the Ukraine crisis and the sanctions comes in handy now for us, because that limits Russias options for exports even more than they already are. We have to use the momentum now and get more of what we need, although the claims in the opening article are BS and only speculations from unnammed sources. We have to pay 50% to own 50% of our version, not to have 50% of the workshare. If we wanted to do half the work, we would need the know how in design of a NG fighter or the development of NG techs, which we clearly don't have yet and that limits our workshare in the first place, not the Russians. So workshare can only increase over time, just as it did with MKI or Brahmos.

Our aerospace limitation is the main reason for this dire situation. But like you mentioned GoI is now using their leverage to pressure Russia.Ukrane crisis and following sanctions gave a heavy blow to Russian economy.
FGFA is aimed for exports after its development and now it seems their export choice are drastically reduced due to sanctions.China is not a choice .So more or less they have less options.

@karan21, how you perceive PAKFA, i don't think it's a real 5th gen fighter.
I don't think it's the best 5th gen plane in the world. It will be more close to J-20 and prolly won't achieve the level of F-22 Raptor. But the point here is that should India pay $6 billion for R&D and another $30 billion for manufacturing. I don't think so.

this scenario goes like India lend 6billion to Russia without interests and Russian use those money to do R&d and sell it to India for profits. he'll no

Kya karoge itte jahajo ka? kisse ladna hai?

And even if IAF gets heavier, what difference will it make, bill to taxpayers pe ka he faadenge... Woh chahe capital budget mein ho ya revenue mein ..... No one is interested in cost efficient mechanism.

M2K is right now the most easy to maintain, most efficient and has given the least headache/nIghtmare to IAF.

Higher sortie rate higher availability are some of the few advantages lighter aircraft offer over heavy 2 engined aircraft.

Bill ko maroo goli.

PAK-FA already much better than F-22. The engine AL-41F1 which is installed on prototypes already more powerful compare to F-119 PW-100. That's mean bigger payload and combat radius. New electronic warfare system with AESA radars even in flops and other electronic components like "smart pilot", etc.

Chinese Aviation Industry is not even close to that.

.
And for topic.

What's parts of FGFA will be Indian made? Software? and that's its.

.
Well as a result of this LCA project being delayed into oblivion and beyond.
The Mig-23 retired without any replacement.
Half the Mig-21's have retired/crashed and not replaced.

MKIs are replacing the Mig 23s and even most of the Mig 27s, for the rest:

The export chances of a 5th gen fighter are reduced anyway because of the high procurement and maintenance costs compared to current gen fighters, so there won't be that many countries that will be able to afford it. But to reduce the costs, secure cost-effective upgrades and interest of foreign countries, they surely need us with the MKI experience.

Future 5th gen export would be completely under the domination of F35 . They are aiming for export success like
F16
