Russia provide all kind of weapons to India, you can't said they not reliable over Russian refuse to hand over 5th generation technology for 5 billions dollars as the development fee.

well u are right to one extend but we cant just switch over from russia just now as bulk of owr millitarry tech is of russian origin & he have a serous handicap of curruption in high offices of armed forces where owr genrals , admirals , air marshals love imported stuff as they get many "perks" and kick backs and wont get either if they choose locallymade products LCA & Arjun are perfect exampls of this same trecherry where armed forces did every thing possible to sabotage the local R&D and kept on changing the goal posts but are happy to use obsolete foriegn stuff or the degrasded foriegn stuff

i dont get it first time i saw MCA/AMCA concept on social media was way back in 2006 and even today they dont have anything concrete and are running after russia ...

why should russia oblige them onli why not anyone who has money ?

thing is there is still time what india needs to do is

1. buy at least 8 squads of FGFA and in time develop its own AMCA & AURA and to get the job done on time take help of japnese and israelies and french if they are willing and not too greedy this time

2. try to prep up private players to make/assemble/job worklatest defence erquipment on high priority and fast track basis and that to in joint venture with global players

even if now HAL , ADA or MOD dosent wajkes it will be too long and we might have to acsept russian blackmail

we should also come owt of this parnoia about american techs as americans , japnese , koreans , viets , australia and some others want us more than we want them its all about trade and mutual benefits

MCA/AMCA which you saw in 2006 basically was twin engined 4 ++ Fighter aircraft which later became (2010) aircraft with Low visibility and in 2013 it became Stealth Fighter , it has evolved from MCA to MCA+ to AMCA over the years and IAF still not accepted Technical flexibility report for ADA to start work on prototype .

I have said it over and over again. It's time India rises upto the challenge. When Tejas was launched it was called the plane that will bridge the gap btw Indian aerospace and the 4+ gen planes of the west. Almost $4 Billion spent on that plane. Not only the plane is flying but the infrastructure required is also built.

Forget the Russian 5th gen plane. Build our own AMCA. If we don't have a certain technology, buy it. If we can't buy it steal it. Bribe western and Russian engineers to sell us the spare parts and designs. Copy them and produce them in India. Build a plane made in India for India.

Agreed man, America for whats worth is a good ally as long as you are a strong unified country. India should focus on that. The reason why AMCA and AURA saw little developent is due to CONgres who did nothing for India. Their own family members engage in corruption. We need Modi to be in office for at least 15 year, then you will see us catch up. Gujurat had him as CM for so many yrs. India as a whole needs a capable leader, not someone who talks but someone with action.

The whole LCA program including cost of building infrastructure was only 1 billion $.
