FBI team arrives in Pakistan for insider trading probe

ISLAMABAD: FBI has opened inquiry about alleged involvement of some prominent Pakistanis in the insider trading scam in the United States.
A team of FBI was investigating about involvement of some senior Pakistani bankers, top stock brokers, relatives of top government officials in Islamabad and housing schemes owners in the insider trading scam, well placed sources here said.
Geo News correspondent in Islamabad Mazhar Tufail has reported that the FBI was also investigating about probable links of top Pakistanis involved in the scam with some Jihadi forces.
State Minister Ishaq Khakwani has confirmed FBI teamâs arrival for investigations in Pakistan adding that the government has no direct link with the scam. The government could not be held responsible for involvement of any government person in the scam, he added
Pakistani banker Ejaz Rahim who is investment head of an Arab financial institution in Pakistan has confessed before an American court that he had received five million US dollars in the insider trading based on non-public information from a source.
Rahim is currently staying in London holding consultations with his lawyers.
