F-35B Pops Up In Indian Aircraft Carrier Official Impression

LOL, I don't know who should be more embarrassed, the IN website that confuse the British carrier with IAC1, or Shiv Aroor who claimed:

what the Indian Navy says is an official impression of India's indigenous aircraft carrier,

although the line under the picture itself says it's an artistic representation only.

The only F35 version that could be interesting for IN would be the C, but why should IN pay more money, for less flight performance than a naval FGFA, or even AMCA.
Why should they pay for completely new weapons, spares, logistics, maintenance and training, when they can have a lot of commonality to IAF fighters for?
Why should IN want high restrictions and very limited ToT, when they can have full freedom and access with naval FGFA, or AMCA?

I have no doubt, that IN will choose Rafale, or F18SH as a mature and cost-effective gap filler, till naval FGFAs will be ready and will use them later in secondary strike, or tanker roles.

The Lockheed-Martin F-35 has popped up in what the Indian Navy says is an official impression of India's indigenous aircraft carrier, currently under construction in Kochi. Bit of a boo-boo though -- the picture above is not India's under-construction carrier, it's actually the Royal Navy's CVF (thanks Tim, for pointing that out!). Here's the Indian Navy's document [PDF] on aircraft carriers that has the lifted image above -- and here's the original source image. Don't know why the Navy had to use this image when it has some pretty impressive artwork of its own.

Boo-boo aside, does this say anything about how hot the Indian Navy is for the F-35? The platform's B and C variants have been pitched to the Navy in response to an RFI earlier this year. Other aircraft on offer are navalised variants of the Gripen and Eurofighter, and the F/A-18E/F. An earlier impression of the carrier featured Boeing F-15s operating from the ship's flight deck.

He edited it.

I think this image is of CVF, which is much bigger than IAC.

This is neither IAC-1 nor CVF it is RN's QE class carrier! There were some news that one of this class may be ofered to India but India rejected it in favor of IAC-II.

Lockheed proposed F-35 for Indian navy and navy sent RFI for F-35 as well but defence secretary ruled out F-35 in favor of Naval FGFA!:confused::confused:

The Indian navy is so far ahead.....it leadership is hands down one of the best I've ever come across. Their ability to grasp the latest concepts and incorporate into their defense is astonishing. Going for the F-35 is a clever move, no doubt about that!

Agreed!

Indian navy is far more clear on what it wants as compared to IAF and the army.

Indian Aircraft Carrier will Use Tejas Naval fighters the Term indian aircraft gor indian carrier has been the moto recently.

F35 is just a dream at this stage

Its Just an "Artist's impression" ..

Its just the imagination of an Indian artist... who is trying to have fun with his skills.

And I am surprised to see that the Indian members here are actually taking it seriously.. Be realistic guys...

.
No doubt f35 is a fine plane but the development has already been done by the existing partners in the project, not sure if India will get much in the way of offsets or tech transfer would it not be better to go for the rafale both for navy and air version?

i always think when the Chinese are fielding J-10s in the ACs we need more potent machines than Mig-29KUBs...atleast better radars.

why dude? Isn't Mig-29K more capable than J-10? Also NLCA will be there. Russia has huge experiences in this area and matured technology.

Probably continuation of design blunders examples set by Indian defense contractors.

Viva le indian web design babus!

You are right and I didnt mention much abt Mig-29, but somehow i feel AESA would have been there instead of Zhuk MESA..

@Naval PAK-FA: After Failure of Su33 (heavy Fighter on Deck) I don think Russia will ever think to develop Naval FGFA/Pak-FA...

@Naval AMCA: AMCA is not yet in picture, It will take 3 more years to develop Naval AMCA form AMCA.

@Naval Tejas: By the time IAC will come, Naval LCA will match LCA MKII. or MK II+ (Now a days + is extensively used by DRDO)..

@F35: Amerika will not be successful to fill the demand from there beloved friends (Including Pakistan) How it gonna deliver it to India on time???

@MiG29K: its very potent design... the MiG29 is tested and verified machine.... Its not bad If IAC will go with MiG29....

@trollers: Enjoy Def . pk
