Explosive investigation by NewYork Times into Axact : The company behind BOL

Apart from the government which was swiftly at the throat of Axact for issuing fake degrees as alleged by Declan Walsh of New York Times, there are two other aspects to this scandal which must be kept in view. There was an organized campaign to stall the launch of a new satellite channel BOL by the media moguls, more notably Geo News who fears the new competitor. In the beginning, a campaign was launched through Indian media saying Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, ISI was behind the scheduled launch of BOL. Then it was alleged that an Indian underworld don, who is also fugitive from the law, was funding this new channel. The purpose was clearly to paint the channel as being funded from the proceeds of crimes. The trick didn’t work, though. BOL attracted all top-of-the-line anchors of other channels at hefty compensation package much before the launch thus robbing the industry of their cream “bread-winners”.

The second aspect of this story is the messenger; Mr Declan Walsh of New York Times who worked on this story. In spite of many loopholes in the story, he seems to have worked very hard to make a case against Axact. The newspaper is religiously following up on this story. It is not known what will be the end of this story; whether it will stick or the Times will have to tender an apology like in the past is yet to be seen.

Messenger is not credible and it is defamation axact

Axact is likely fishy but the combined campaign of media channels and politicians tells something more fishy. See Hamid Mir and Zardari discussing this while Zardari is questioning intellignece agencies with that pathetic smile

.
Any Pakistani Enterprise that is rising gives a lot of heart burn to the yahudi and the yahudi then sets out to find dirt of that enterprise , rewind back in time and the rising Pakistani bank BCCI was tarnished the same way by the Jew York Times as it is now doing to Axact

.
They extort clients by impersonating as government officials and take advantage of the circumstances of foreign workers.

This company basically sums up what a capitalist establishment turns into if itsn't restrained by the government or the rule of law. Axact should be shut down and the assets absorbed by the state, totalitarian style.

. . . .
New York Times goes all the troubles to create such a lengthy "research" report about a small company in Pakistan,

Or does it have to do something with the yet to be formed media group BOL which might create a challenge for NYT subsidiary "Express Tribune" and other paid media?

Russia Today has already given them a real headache.

Just curious.
there is huge list of such scams all over the world including USA. so its stunning that NYT will expose a scam in third world like Pakistan.! obviously there some other reasons for this.

Pakistan to seek FBI, Interpol help in fake degrees scam

Pakistan on Saturday said it has decided to ask the FBI and Interpol for assistance with a probe into a Karachi-based firm accused of running a global fake degree empire.

Pakistan this week launched an investigation against the company Axact after it was accused by the New York Times of running a network of websites for phoney universities as part of an elaborate scheme that generated tens of millions of dollars annually.

"The interior ministry is writing a letter to (the) FBI to get legal assistance... other than that we are also contacting Interpol to get some information on the universities," Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told reporters in capital Islamabad.

Khan said the ministry would write the letter in next two days, adding that an initial inquiry into the company would be completed in next 10 days.

Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officers swooped on the Karachi headquarters of the company on Tuesday, seizing equipment and records and expelling employees from the building.

The company's Rawalpindi office has also been sealed and employees questioned, an official said requesting anonymity.

The raids were sparked by a NYT report that quoted former employees and analysed more than 370 websites of fake universities, accreditation bodies and other purported institutions.

According to the article, the firm had clients from the US, Britain and the United Arab Emirates who had paid sums ranging from thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars for degrees -- with some believing the universities were real and they would soon receive coursework.

In a statement Axact has not directly addressed the allegations but accused domestic media rivals of colluding with the US newspaper to plant a slanderous story in order to harm its business interests.

What would his TV channel do give fake news like fake degrees. Why so much investment in media vans. Was he fool of the century.
