Ex-Lavi chief calls for new fighter, not $11 billion on F-35

F-15SE Sneaking Up On the F-35
July 25, 2010: For over a year now, F-15 manufacturer Boeing has been offering a "stealthy" aircraft called the F-15SE (Silent Eagle). The target market is nations that want some stealth, but do not want to pay the high price of the F-35. The F-15SE is an F-15E with better electronics (radar and countermeasures) and an airframe tweaked to make the aircraft harder for radar to detect. A CWB (Conformal Weapons Bay) carried beneath the body of the aircraft contains two internal weapons bays. Each bay can carry two missiles or smart bombs. Each of the four hard points in the CWB can carry two smaller SDB (Small Diameter Bombs). While not as stealthy as the F-22, the F-15SE claims to be as stealthy as the F-35, which costs 40 percent more. Another option is to have existing F-15Es rebuilt to F-15SE standards, at less than half the cost of a new F-15SE. Boeing has demonstrated the stealthiness to serious customers, and the F-15SE does indeed make it much more difficult for radars to spot it. Some foreign F-15E users have expressed an interest, especially as the cost of the F-35 keeps going up, with no end in sight for the increases.

but given the offer of up gradation of current F-15s to SE standards at half the cost of new SE...and given the F-15 fleet of IdAF...I suspect Silent Eagle is the most economical and logical decision as they would would enjoy.
1) minimal infrastructure needs.
2) greater familiarity with the AC.
3) sufficient operational experience with aircraft.
So I suspect very very strongly Israel going for Silent Eagle...

I doubt that the Israeli's would pull F-15's off the line to upgrade them without first having a replacement. To do so would diminish the amount of air power available to them for defense. As I stated before it would be more practical to get off the shelf F-35's at the lower price. Then incrementally upgrade the F-15's.

you people, this is ex-Lavi chief's call..

israel will go with procurement of F-35s as scheduled along with upgrades to F-15s in coming years to SE standards.

Can any military specialist tell me when F-35 can make Vertical Landing why can't it do a Vertical takeoff too?? are there any such aircrafts which can do Vertical takeoff and landing??

I did see a vertical take off in future weapons series....you can check this on youtube (as it is blocked in my office)

well dude

essentially its physics..

you need enough thrust from the engine to slow you down to an acceptable decent rate so as not to crash.

to take off you need to pump out thrust that is enough to lift your plane's weight, the fuel weight and the weapons load weight..

add it up. .that is a lot more difficult

:coffee:

Ideally it's better to do a normal take off becuase you use less fuel up. But as the video below shows it isn't a requirement.

i agree with Ex-Lavi chief, because f35 is too costly than the f-15se which is also stealth jet but has more speed.
but joint venture with India is not be possible because INDIA HAVE NO EXPERIENCE in engine manufacturing & avionics but Russia will be the best option

Sir, whats ur thinking about Sino-pak joint venture jf-17, is pak have lots of experience in avionice or china has exp. in engine manufacturing?:what:
plz explain.

regards

Man that was uber cool awesome :yahoo::yahoo:

I would love to see this plane in Indian colours :bounce::bounce:
:sniper::sniper:

that's the good plane usa has offered us but we have much better option

pak-fa

f35 can play its role in Indian navy but we have to buy with and AC carrier from USA in future

I think some discussion has gone over this before too. They say that PAK-FA naval variant would take some more time so isn't it better to go for this so cuuuuuuuuuuuuute baby

F-35 - take it or leave it

Who would have believed it? Some years ago Israel was developing the world's most advanced fighter aircraft, the Lavi, while the Western world's aircraft manufacturers were beating their way to our door, eager to participate in the Lavi project, or trying to sell their competing plane to the Israel Air Force. And now Israel goes hat in hand pleading for a chance to be allowed to acquire the F-35 aircraft, at a price tag of $150 million each. But it's not only the astronomical price. Israel is told that the F-35 must be taken as is - no changes or modifications to suit Israel's specific needs, and absolutely no Israeli systems included. Take it or leave it.
