After Jerusalem debacle and defeat at UN, what you people think?

Is this a start of US decline as world's lone superpower...

Note: gentlemen do give your reason of voting yes or no...

I have never seen the united States so disrespected and its standing so low

I dont think its been this low since before WW2

Although it remains the worlds super power

The question is What makes a superpower?

America is still a military superpower
It continues to be world's largest economy

But we live in a multi polar world where you can live without the U.S and other countries are standing up

Its American prestige and standing which has been decimated
Its high point was after the collapse of the Soviet Union
The USA was the centre of the world, its sole superpower, defender of democracy, equality and justice (even if it was mostly bull)

It maintained this respect through the 1990s and had world sympathy after 9/11

But it has since been in free fall after WMD lies, needless wars and arm twisting etc

Obama was a stop against the inevitable but Trump has just destroyed in 1 year american standing, it is now reduced to making unilateral decisions, making threats and trying to bully the world
It is no longer the defender of democracy, equality and diversity

America as we knew it is no more

As i said days are numbered...superpower starts nose diving when other major and minor powers starts objecting it...and this is start of US nose diving...Russia was a big military might but CIA/Charlie Wilson destroy it in Afghanistan.

Every Empire , Civilization that has a beginning will have an End , Romans , Persians , Greeks , Islamic Caliphate , Chinese , Japanese , Germans , Mongols , Spanish , British ... America is no different , everything is this world can and will Perish except the One and Only God/Allah , only him there will be no Downfall ..

in the end All i can quote a Verse from the Holy Quran ..

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL
And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart." [17:81]

I voted "yes". The real terms Chinese economy now matches US economy. However the "facts on the ground" like military, influence, pull and weight on other countries is still lagging in case of China. The reasons are the Chinese need time to consolidate their footing. At the moment the Chinese ever so careful are staying focused on developing all regions of their country and providing all their peoples with good life.

However as we go forward Chinese will become more robust and confident as a consequence of their massive economy. As more countries start recognizing China as the arbiter of world power US influence will diminish. For instance Pakistan has already moved over to the Chinese orbit. We Iran, Syria to move over as well. For now Saudia,GCCwill stay firmly milched to Uncle Sam. However large parts of Africa are also moving over to China. Myanmar has already gone over to Beijing. This process will hasten as we move orward.

UN-related development might give the impression of US loosing its clout but it is unlikely to influence "situation on the ground." Israel controls much of Jerusalem regardless and US might move its embassy there at some point. Actions carry more weight than words, to be honest.

However, world is expected to become multi-polar once again. US is the TOP DOG of the WEST and will remain so in years to come but rise of China looks inevitable on the other hand.

I would not underestimate US at this juncture though. US can take action against North Korea, pit India against China and commence new economic initiatives across the world. US can also take action against Iran and other states for their defiance. Let us see what happens.

$20 trillion economy that's outpacing most every country including China in dollar GDP added. A military that can project power anywhere in the world. World class companies and universities. A rising dominant nation in energy. The foremost space power in the world. What is exactly "numbered" again? People are putting way to much emphasis on a symbolic vote, that in reality means little. We get it, the world hates Trump. Trump is temporary, while the U.S. retains huge advantages.

Honestly I think this Jerusalem as the Capital and the UN vote is just a prelude to some big scientific achievement announcement by Israel. For instance say they have figured out Nuclear Fusion and the world comes to them to solve their energy problems. Now they are going to license the tech first to the countries (and construction companies in them) that didn’t vote against them and make everybody get stuck in red tape. Something along those lines.

I think this whole thing is not as simple as people seem. They have a rabbit in their hat that they are going to pull out.

I disagree. US is past the high water mark which was about mid 1990s. The reduction of a superpower is not abrupt or like switching off a light. But rather like fading of light from day to night. Right now USA is in the late afternoon and the Chinese are early morning. USA can only go toward night and China only high noon. There is nothing superlative about USA. It is not end of history. Like previous empires have gone so will USA.

A superpower is not so because it says it is. It is so because other countries accept it as such. That acceptance is waning. And will wane more as China brings better options to the table then USA. However I agree USA will remain dominant with a "rump" Western sphere.

And I think USA is going to get worn out like it wore out USSR. As me move forward America will increase military expenditure to keep up with Chinese. This will over time stretch USA to the limit.

There are many people on this forum who have wet dreams about the demise of US as a superpower and will grasp on to anything that makes US look bad, including this insignificant UNGA vote on Jerusalem.
