How Electronic Voting Machine works

EVM has two units -

-Control unit and a Ballotting unit - cable wires connected

-Control unit will be with the election official and Ballotting unit will be inside the Voting Compartment

- After your identification is proved, the official will press a button of his control unit and directs you to go to a voting compartment and press ONE blue button on the Ballotting unit

- A small red bulb glows after you have exercised your franchise on the blue button and to indicate your successful voting, a long beep sound is heard

- these simple methods of audio and visual indications assures foolproof voting system by voters

Electronic Voting Machine - better know how it works | Praja

lol mate, at the end of the day it is an electronic chip based machine.

You do some software locha with the electronic components and who knows what might happen.

There's a saying in English you know, "You build a better mouse, somebody will build a better trap."

...and winning the election is a huge motivating factor for anybody to try and build a better trap. If you know what I mean. ;)

Ya bro, but our only hope is that atleast election commission will not be corrupt.

All over for the communists in India. Marxism is an outdated ideology. As Dr Amit Mitra of TMC said yesterday, Communist Party of India should transform themselves into a left socialist party, like the ones in Eastern Europe.

Software Locha? The software here is on a EEPROM kinda thing. Then each machine cannot take more than approx 1000 votes. So any monkey business has to be done to machines in "hundreds of thousands". Another thing the machine is not programmed by names of political parties but by symbols; which has to be done constituency wise consideing that there are always a fair number of independents in each election. Not forgetting that the machines are stored in scattered and dispersed areas in every state, not in some central repository. All in all, "Lochas" are not even easy to execute; assuming that it is possible. :)

Assembly elections in Indian provinces of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry have taken place...

these are the states where BJP hardly exists, however interestingly leftist parties are on the lose after decades of supremacy. it is only Assam where congress has won.

Biggest states are most important as far as getting power at the centre is concerned.

However, that happens in General Elections.

These were state elections. The most they will do is change a few numbers in the upper house i.e. the Rajya Sabha. Won't do any change in the lower house i.e. Lok Sabha.

As for your question,

UP
Bihar
Maharashtra
Madhya Pradesh

are some of the biggest and most important states with largest number of Lok Sabha seats that they contribute to the Parliament.

Tamilnadu govt. is as good as a BJP coalition partner ...Jaya has invited NM for oath taking ceremony ..

Now coming yo biggest states..
UP- BJP can get few seats..
Bihar- Hail Nitish
Maharshtra-- Again a neck 2 neck comp.
MP- BJP stronghold..

I agree.

May be I am paranoid, but I don't completely believe anything that runs on power and has chip in it. If EVM is so advanced why technologically advanced countries in the West are not adopting or is that we are just too smart for them.

EVM has made Indian election less humane and physical. Now election is all about beeping buzzers, flashing light and numbers on the computer screen.

West does not have so many voters. EVM is a good compromise between security on one hand and accuracy and speed on other.

All political parties support EVM in India, they wont do if they know something is wrong.

Using EVMs is always a bad idea - the EVMs can be rigged at the factory itself, by installing code with appropriate trap-doors.
