The Rafale cannot take on a stealth fighter one generation ahead. The same way most 4th and 4.5th are simply not equipped to take on the F-35. The F-35 has an edge over previous generation aircraft and that is not a surprise.

I have heard a lot of claims lately. The Indians used to claim how their mighty Su-30 MKI would mincemeat anything PAF had in its inventory. Even the MiG bison was capable enough to destroy Pakistani F-16s and JF-17s. The whole world saw what happened on the 27th of February. A JF-17 mauled a Su-30 MKI and downed a MiG-21. We captured the IAF pilot and the Indians had to beg for its release. This is not a fake story. It is real.

I don't take fanboy BS seriously anymore. I don't take exercise tales seriously. JF-17 has actual combat kills to its name. The JF-17 has been pitched during real world combat and has scored kills against actual terrorists. The JF-17 is a battle hardened fighter. It has proved its worth many times over.

Sure, the JF-17 has proven to be a potent light fighter.. but we do not want to compare it to medium and heavy fighters..Iraqi Mirages had shot down an Iranian F-14 during the Iraq-Iran war..But Rafale is the closest thing to a 5th generation fighter.. with its AESA radar and mostly its SPECTRA system..It is good enough to blind any radar, ground or air one, disappear, hit and then reappear in a different place..

Any aviation expert will admit that the Gripen NG is superior to any version of the JF-17.
New and more reliable American engine, and superior AESA radar compared to KLJ-7 are thr biggest factors here.

Technically speaking, the Rafale is more advanced than the JF-17 III.. but as we all know the fight depends on the quality of the Pilots..So first India, after receiving the Rafale in maybe 2 years from now will need at least a 4 year period to train its pilots..and by that time the Already very efficient Pakistani Pilots, will just get much more experience on their jets..something like 15 years experience vs 4 years for the Indian pilots. hence I don't see the Indian Rafale being pitched into battle before 8-10 years.. and if they do with barely experienced pilots they will lose their planes..much more than if they have experienced ones who know how to disengage in case of imminent danger..
