Egypt as per experts are going in wrong direction buying different jets like MIG 35, rafale and if jf17 is going to be maintenance nightmare. They in the start should have gone for only one platform giving them jf17 in my opinion stupid since they will waste them like in 67 and Israels will get their hands on it.

I said that because Egypt is already operating the J-7 and the K-8E that will be replaced by the Chinese FC-1..maintenance issue will be only with the SU-35, since it is the first time Egypt is buying a modern SU..But I guess technicians are already in Russia for training..

Making the comparsion between JF-17 and F-35 is ludicrous. They are both a different generation.

The F-35 will mincemeat a lot of fighters including Rafale.

Egypt needs to replace its old light fighters too..J-7,F-5...etc, hence the interest in the JF-17.. for Medium and heavy fighters, Egypt can buy more Rafale, Mig-35 and SU-35..

The dear distinguished Egyptian member himself has stated that Egyptian air force feels no need to acquire the JF-17. Egyptian air force can buy more expensive and "better" fighters.

I think Egypt should replace all of its fighters with Rafale. They have the money and resources. They should go for it.

Tbh Egypt should phase out very light aicraft like JF-17 or go for Gripen NG which outclasses even the JF-17 Block 3.

There is no gold hidden in JF-17. You get what is advertised. LOL why would Israel want to inspect the JF-17? It doesn't make any sense.

Remember that a fighter is of no use as long as the pilots know how to use every knob and button effectively in random situations. Pakistan trains its pilots on a ridiculously advanced level. We didn't down the Indian Su-30 by chance. Neither did we take out the Israeli powered MiG by luck.

Jf-17 will stop being useful among modern countries some time in the 30s to 35. I personally would like to see a very light stealth aircraft in the Gripen category if possible that could replace older fighters. J-20 for heavy role, J-31 for medium weight role, and a lighter stealth fighter in the class of Gripen as I said before.

And how would come to that conclusion ? WS19 is not out and operational aspect are still unknown ... on paper is comparable or superior to f414 ...
Secondly have they seen KLJ or know the details ... what are your “experts” comparing it with ?

Claiming that the Gripen NG has a superior AESA radar is a bit too much. We simply don't know the real world specs. Neither Gripen nor China/Pakistan will advertise the real world specs of their respective radars.

JF-17 is being modified and modernized each iteration. The specs are getting better. The engine and radar are also getting better upgrades. Just by claiming that one is inferior/superior to the other doesn't make it inferior or superior.

I wouldn't underestimate the JF-17. Ask the Indian air force who just lost Su-30 MKI and an Israeli upgraded MiG. The JF-17 was supposed to be a fly according to the Indians that could be shot mid air. They found out on the 27th as did the world how lethal the JF-17 is.

With networked warfare and advanced next gen AAM's and munitions....JF-17 can be useful for some time. Gripen is a good platform, however, JF17 offers more value for money. Rumor is block 3 will get a new engine. So Gripen does not have a huge advantage over B3 in my opinion.

No maintenance issues with Rafale.. Egypt was operating the Mirage-2000 for a long time.. don't worry much..everything is taken care of.. if you had that embargo thought, don't you think EAF has thought about it..and made sure it won't work against it?

The Rafale cannot take on a stealth fighter one generation ahead. The same way most 4th and 4.5th are simply not equipped to take on the F-35. The F-35 has an edge over previous generation aircraft and that is not a surprise.

I have heard a lot of claims lately. The Indians used to claim how their mighty Su-30 MKI would mincemeat anything PAF had in its inventory. Even the MiG bison was capable enough to destroy Pakistani F-16s and JF-17s. The whole world saw what happened on the 27th of February. A JF-17 mauled a Su-30 MKI and downed a MiG-21. We captured the IAF pilot and the Indians had to beg for its release. This is not a fake story. It is real.

I don't take fanboy BS seriously anymore. I don't take exercise tales seriously. JF-17 has actual combat kills to its name. The JF-17 has been pitched during real world combat and has scored kills against actual terrorists. The JF-17 is a battle hardened fighter. It has proved its worth many times over.
