DRDO to roll out own fifth-generation fighter

Is going to be inducted in next two months when JF-17 is already operational with a squadron.

Ohh and the indigenous "kaveri" engines are not ready either!

But Tejas is one hell of a good looking fighter only next to EF-2000!
have to admit that!

Why bring the JF into this?...this is a thread about AMCA....

well what indegnous engine does jf17 fly with....and what avionics does it have?.....last news was french refused to give avionics...

or is your policy "induct first then see if we can get it finished"...we do not haVE THAT POLICY...

its funny you know just a few posts back you asked if the LCA flew.....and when your ignorance was lifted you come with rants....
after two months india would have 8-10 planes(lca) in service...wont take long to build the next ones....seeing thet you have inducted your plnce far ahead i havent seen the numbers (of jf17) increasing after the first squadron was inducted a long time ago....now why is this?

hmmm there was a ambitious talk in one of the thread where people where convincing me 300 JF17 block III by 2017... One squadron JF17 block I just completed when it started from Mid 2008.. No improvement in avionics deal.. French has postponed it indifinetly because of lack of money so lets see whether second Squadron JF17 block II by end of of 2011 as one of the ambitious plan mentioned by our dear "Pakistani Nationalist".. When we are ambitious they are saying dream castle, failure etc etc.. when we point to there ambitious plans they rant.. what a logic ... They are still not accepting that problem exist every where.. first solve the inhouse problem then you can advice us...

may be till now u dont have any well furnished proof for engines after the first batch of 8+42. even no orders?

Good to know the project has really kicked off.. I bet since its in medium catagory , surely there will be naval version.
PAKFA being heavyweight also has naval version.

I'd like to modify the above statement...

PAKFA being heavyweight also has naval version, eventually.

While there is no doubt that the russian navy will demand and eventually get a 5th gen fighter; current trends do not indicate that there is any solid movemnent on that front.

If there is any report regarding Naval Pak fa apart from expression of intent, please let me know!

.
I ALWAYS WONDER WHAT KIND OF NAVAL PAK-FA WILL BE? I GUESS IT WILL BE VTOL.ANYBODY HAS AN IDEA ABOUT IT?

What else then intention do you expect at the moment? I mean be it Pak Fa for air force, or the future Russian carriers, let alone the Indian versions, they all are only planed so far and only for the next decade, that's why you hardly find more than officials saying this is planed, we intent to...
So far we know that the Russians plan with Mig 29K only as a stop gap, their future carriers are aimed on N-Pak Fa and UAVs/UCAVs, which is even the way USN wants to go (F35/ Northrop Grumman X47).
IN initially wanted naval MKIs for the Gorshkov, or Vikrant class, which means they aimed for heavy class fighters too and only the smaller size of these carriers was a limitation. With bigger carriers in future, N- Pak Fa / FGFA are very likely too, especially if the aim is deterrance against China.
N-LCA instead is just a project of pride and with more than limited future!

Correction there, buddy. IN had issued a letter of interest to Sukhoi asking for the scope of Su-33 (not MKI naval version). But the situation changed when Sukhoi replied saying that the design has lived its life and the production lines are closing in favour of MiG-29K and future 5th gen fighters, the government increased the order from 16 MiGs to a total of 45 MiGs.

which means they aimed for heavy class fighters too and only the smaller size of these carriers was a limitation.

True. N-PAKFA/FGFA is the way into future since IN has already shown interest in Su-33. I also saw on Wikipedia as well as an AMCA news report that Navy might be a potential customer of AMCA. But if that's the case then why did IN issue an RFI for foreign 4.5th gen naval fighters? This is confusing me.

That is exactly what I meant! However I was making this statement in the context of the popular conception here that IN will reject F35 as N Pak Fa is in the offing.

The point I'm trying to make here is, for N Pak fa to be operational on IAC-2 by the time it enters active service, we will need more than intent and that too ASAP.

If not, F35 may make an entry into IN as the only choice against the chinese naval air arm.

That is why I said

Yup! What I'm afraid of is that this future of the RN might not be near enough to avoid F35 entry into IN! Perhaps that is the reason behind the RFI issued by IN.

IN initially wanted naval MKIs for the Gorshkov, or Vikrant class, which means they aimed for heavy class fighters too and only the smaller size of these carriers was a limitation. IN showing interest in CATOBAR configuration (that too EMALS) for IAC-2 is a pretty big clue to what IN intends. That is why I think even N AMCA is very likely.

About N LCA I'm keeping my fingers crossed! If navy goes for a few N LCA mk1 depending on performance at SBTF, Goa; that'll be a huge boost to the program. Interesting times; these are!

Correction buddy it was other way round.. IN was least interested in SU... It liked Mig so it funded them and we developed Mig 29K.. Russia which saw the improvement here .. closed Su-33 and took Mig 29 K as we have given the cost for the development

compairing to the following AMCA model we can clearly see that the belly of the PAKFA is more exposed are we making any structural changes on our FGFA since i believe these two projects are interelated as far as know how tech is concerned
My gut feeling is that radical changes are on the way for the not so stealthy belly of the T-50...:victory:
