DRDO AEW&CS Aircraft Spotted in Algeria Conducting Trails?
In an Exclusive , secretdifa3.net, which is a leading information site for defense and security in North Africa has posted above Image of DRDO developed Air Borne Early Warning and Control System (AEWAC) aircraft on their website which they claim has been spotted carrying out Trails in Algeria.
According to their website, aircraft has been spotted for the Second time in Algeria in past 18 months and the website is hinting at a possible secret round of negotiation been held with Algerian Air Force for possible sale of the aircraft, we at idrw.org could like to inform its readers that we were not abe to independently verify the authenticity of picture posted with our sources.
Current DRDO Chief Dr. S Christopher who was also earlier in charge of Center for AirBorne Systems (CABS) which has developed Indigenous developed AEW&CS mounted on the Brazilian Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft confirmed to Indian media that India is in talks with Indonesia to export indigenously-made airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) .
DRDO developed EMB-145 AEW&C for the first time was showcased at Bahrain International Airshow last year, where aircraft made flying display which had generated many inquiries from potential buyers from Africa, South America, and Asia on the possible sale of aircrafts.
Embraer too after receiving positive response had told DRDO that they were interested in Jointly Exporting EMB-145 AEW&C aircrafts developed with DRDO radars and sensors.
DRDO has developed 3 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) out of which two aircraft will be transferred to Indian Air force which will be operated from Bhisiana Air Force Station near Bathinda which is close to Pakistan border, While 3rd aircraft will remain with DRDO for research and development and also will be used as a demonstration platform to potential export clients.
idrw.org in its earlier reports had informed its readers that IAF is unlikely to place further orders for DRDO developed AEW&C systems and last year had sought a longer-endurance and higher-altitude platform than the EMB-145, to integrate indigenous radar system on a bigger platform.
India will now acquire bigger two Airbus A330s with the option of 4 more aircrafts and Airbus has agreed to carry out structural modification of aircraft, While DRDO will develop bigger and better Radars which will also provide 360 degrees of coverage similar to three A-50s AWACS operated by IAF which is powered by Israeli Phalcon systems integrated with into modified Russian IL-76 heavy-lift aircraft.
