Does the PN need an aircraft carrier?

I guess Pakistan is lacking in air craft carrier where india has one. What do you guys think...
India is making air craft carrier with russia. Why don't Pakistan and china cooperate to make an air craft carrier.

Hi and welcome. Please have a look at some of the older existing threads: there quite a bit of discussion in there about whether Pakistan would need a carrier and how it could be acquired if needed.

Yes Pakistan needs and Aircraft carrier. Since China is building one for herself , Pakistan should also asked or joint efforts with China to build another one for the Pakistan.

Yes,Pak needs an A/C carrier atleast the scale of Gerald ford class with nuclear propulsion. It should carry 72 J-20 and 10 E-2D atleast. And needs a battle group with 2 cruisers of atleast 10K tonne with nuclear propulsion and long range land attack CM`s nuclear/conventional and Aegis air defence too. And 2 multi-role frigates and one SSN.
It needs atleast 2 such battle groups to keep India at bay.
And for that we need 2X10 billion( for carriers)+4X1 Billion( for cruisers)+4X600 million(for frigates)+ 2X1 Billion( for SSN`s)+ 144X 100 million( for navalised J-20)+20X100 million( for E-2D)+ 10 Billion( for replenishments tankers, helis and other allied supporting vessels)= $54.8 Billion( with all approx values) nearly $55 Billion for just getting hands on them. And then we will be spending a min of $200 million a month on maintainance.
I think its still in pakistans reach to do that over a period of 5 years. This will make IN go nuts and will have to find places to hide.
Cmon guys lets do it. We should force our gov and PN to go for it.

Why not?

China will give them all that.

No need for India to be concerned about Pakistan's finance !!!

OOopsss.. did you got it that way?
I never intended it as a finanancial ( oppsss again i cant even say financial right)issue . My intention was to put brakes on IN joy ride :smitten:

we need submarines urgently----

carriers need a group of supporting fleet aswell--where would we hide the carrier in the small coastline we have?

Why do we need Aircraft Carrier, when our Sea border is not toooo long. Where that will be docked? its face would be in indian boundary?

Pakistan needs an aircraft carrier to defend the country if India decides to launch multiple attacks from many fronts.

Yes we do need an aircraft carrier. One is enough for now with around 4-7 more submarines and torpedos.

Now sarcasm aside and lets get serious,

If pak wants and A/C, it has to go with small ones like the one currently IN is operating. A little over 25000 tonns displacement and a modest number of A/C and a decent battle group.Since it cant afford those good to have ones like the super carriers or not even medium sized ones like IAC.And for an A/C you need to have an open sea to roll over with no bottle necks.Else it will be a sitting duck at the harbour.

Given the proximity of IN bases in the region and its under sea detectors and long range MPRs it operates, any A/C carrier having advantage by PN will be simply nullified. It will be just stupidity and waste of money, since your A/C movement will tracked without any hassle. And given the Anti-ship strike capabilitites of IN and Brahmos in its arsenal, any small missile boat crusing over 40 knots will be a pain in the a$$ for PN. A floating Airbase with 20-30 A/C fixed and roatary wing can be taken down during the first 2 hrs of any war btw india and pak.Becos IN`s JAGs and MKI and Mig-29s with AShMs will be just targetting this tiny little carrier and that too staying atleast 300km away from PN A/C carrier, which literally translates to staying in Indias own EEZ in short. An A/C for PN will be a liability and an attention seeker and a big magnet for the first 10 anti-ship missiles.

Second option is, staging this carrier in a foreign base (some where in middle-east).And when it comes to reality,Pak has not yet reached that stage.Another 20 years? maybe if its economy progresses with no hurdles.

I agree that more than A/c's, Pakistan should focus more on submarines.

Ok fine....let's just say that what you said is true then Pakistan should get 'Aircraft Killer missiles" from China to keep Indian A/C out of bay.
