Does Pakistan have what it takes to be a strong nation?

China only wanted to seize control of western most region of China and in the process chased out the enemies only after China was under constant attacks by the Huns and Turks that controlled the area and used the area as bases to invade China, giving China existential threat. So, it was for Chinas own survival rather than expansion that China had/has to control the western Chinese region. Before that, there were also ethnic Chinese settling in the westernmost part starting about 5000 to 7000 years ago, but the area was not under Chinese central gov control until 2000 years ago.

China is not the aggressor, the US waged the the trade war, tech war,financial war and all the blockades against China, China hasnt put up any sanctions against American companies so far. Know your facts before you comment on China and make a fool of yourself.

YES!

Pakistan will be a major power simply on account of its massive population. This may look like a pipe-dream now but it is an eventuality and that too in the next decade or two.

Pakistanis should understand this and embrace this eventuality.

Midnight oil needs to be burned but that too will happen with political stability (no nation in the world has remained in a prolonged state of instability, be it Somalia, Libya, Nigeria, India, Bangladesh, or Myanmar). At one point, political stability will return to Pakistan paving the way for economic recovery.

Not until we, fundamentally, build a mentality of 'delayed gratification.' Once our people (especially leaders) embrace the pain of working hard today for the sake of a better future. This looks like a state and public spending their money on education, skill development, building capacity in industries with high demand, eliminating luxuries/perks at every level, being proactive, and taking calculated risks.

If we do this for 1 decade, we'll correct our internal affairs.

If we do this 2 decades, we'll become an emerging power.

If we do this for 3 decades (i.e., circle into an entire generation), we'll be a major power.

If we do this for 4 decades, we'll be a superpower.

The problem with us Pakistanis (collectively) is that we can't stick to it for even 1 decade.
 
You can't make Animal behave like Humans, out of 10-12 different kind of people and ethnicities who make Pakistan most of them are barbaric/backward/tribal Animals who have no place in modern society, thanks to their backward Tribal culture the rest of Pakistan was barred from its progress, than we have the Army/Establishment who only care about their own pockets and spend their lives making money here so they can in the end move to western countries, Pakistan is a jungle full of dangerous Animals.

no doubt that the general perception about pakistanis is not good . But let me remind you that all the five fingers are not always equal.People differ from each other . it is not only the case in pakistan that there are bad people. Bad people are found everywhere.Likewise there are many honest and good people in pakistan .So we should focus on positivity rather than negativity because negativity leaves nothing more than hatter.
 
I like to think that being “strong” in OP means the following: economic prosperity (high living standard and economical output), politically independent (not being controlled or interfered on political matter), militarily capable (being able to defend its territory, people and economical interest).

Simply put, To be a strong nation Pakistan has to be industrialized. It is safe to say all the strong nations in the world are industrialized nations.

It will take a long essay to discuss how to industrialize Pakistan but in my opinion the most critical ingredient is to establish a governing structure that is fitted for development. A possible solution is to remove the periodic election under the current democratic and replace it with some form of centralized democracy, which does not need to worry about pleasing the populous. Thus it is empowered to make difficult and long term decisions that is impossible in the current democratic framework.

Once such a governing structure is established, it will action a few of key transformation programs that enables industrialization and 2 key programs should be:

1. Economics development program
A clear and practical economics development program is a must for industrialization. Developed nations can afford to have a loose, market driven economical policy but for developing nation that seeks to develop industries, it needs to be clear and actionable. Economic development program does not equal to central planning, it is to plan out what needs to be done to get prioritized industry developed.

2. Social transformation program
Nevertheless there are a lot of social and cultural aspects in Pakistan that are pre-industrialized and need to be removed. A social transformation program will identify these areas and progressively remove them. The key objective of the program is to educate the population and transform them into industrious people. Education is certainly a key part of the program but it should extend to other aspects of the social activities.

A lot of early post discussed the cultural aspects in Pakistan, in particular laziness of the population. I could be wrong but I don’t really agree with it. I have never been to Pakistan so my observation of Pakistani people is mostly based on Vblogs of various Chinese living in Pakistan. I am sure that there are lazy people but my impression is that most of the Pakistani people are hard working and strive for the betterment of their families. With a population of 200 million, it is more than enough to get decent output at national level If a fraction of the population is working hard and productive.

There are also a host of external factors that need to be aligned to get Pakistan industrialized and I intend to discuss it at later stage.

Pakistan's borders were pre determined.

Pakistan's western borders were given to it in 1893 and the Radcliffe was made in 1947.

Pashtun and baloch just sat there and became Pakistani overnight.
