I'd vote yes if Sharia = civil democratic Islamic system of Iqbal.

thats what we need. we keep the punishments that islam offers for each crime tho.
we elect the leader charge muslims zakat and charge non muslims an equal tax( which in turn should only be soent on them)

also i want to add that the myth that bozo and company are spreading that you need 4 witnesses for rape is just non sense and a big fat lie.
that is only for adultery and that is basically good for everyone becuase it will never be proven and the punishment will never be handed down.

Pure shariah is what is written in Quran and Sunnah..you cannot make a dozen interpretations out of it and call it different flavors that makes no sense. That would still be rendered as man made law but the puritan apologist will continue to flog the label of Islam over it.

ok why dont you tell what it is.
becuase i have a feeling you have your own version, why dont you actually state what your problems are with shariah one by one in a list maybe we can clear some misconceptions.

A number of Indians are trolling by voting yes which is distorting the results!

i suggest you pm webby to allow only pak members to vote..

this is required for this poll..

Seriously cant believe that 17 people voted in favour.

Our dear leader Qaud e Azam himself said:

“you may belong to any religion or caste or creed – that has nothing to do with the business of the state,”

There is truely no salvation for this nation.

Quaid-e-Azam

How our Beloved leader Mohammad Ali Jinnah envisioned our state. Hope it can bring sense to some people.

pakistan wasnt the vision of our beloved muhammad ali jinnah.
maybe you should check out the reason behind the creation of pakistan and who actually envisioned it.

We need laws that are more comprehensive than Shariah law, laws that are better defined and more in-tune with Pakistani society; better yet we need enforcement of laws at all strata of society. Funding for the Police departments needs to increase for this to happen and strong legal system built by lawyers and judges and other laws professionals.

all people can vote here this poll will be a waste only Pakistanis should be allowed i don't know how administrators can manage it

No to Shariah..only "We the People"

I would not expect American national ex-Pakistani's to be exporting most profoundly stupid ideas from history back to their ancestral homeland. Ideas in freedom, democracy and tolerance would be much more appreciated.

I don't think there is an add-on feature or mechanism that will allow you to vote based on member nationality. Though other nationalities should exercise some thought and realize it is a poll on what Pakistanis think, the least other nationalities could do is be mindful and not vote and respect the poll.

So that deliberate complicity in gunah e azeem!:astagh::astagh::astagh:

This is the profound stupidity I cannot come to understand in Shariah, on one had it demands punishing people for seemingly person and natural acts yet it also erects barriers against persecution..if someone was committing adultry (sex for the sane minded) knowing well that it was against the Shariah law of the country do you think they would invite four people to witness the show??? hey look at me..i am f_cking????

Bet this punishment could only be levied on pornstars then! :astagh::astagh:

fair enough, isnt it? as long as such things do not effect the society at large, its a personal matter. Hence the beauty of Shariah law which keeps a distinction between what is communal and what is individual.

By undecided, I meant that I don't want Shariah in the current state, with so many factions and all. Since the OP did not elaborate in his poll, so I am undecided, Shariah or Islamic law in current state, no, if we all get together and implement it in true form, yes...but thinking more about it, I'll just click on no as a good setup is nowhere to be seen.

As ajpirzada said, a Islamic Welfare State would be a much better term to use.

It's important that of the many people on this forum, you make sense -- What is this "true form"?? How can there possibly be a "true form" of something that is based on religious knowledge and which means that it is constantly evolving?? Do you understand what Utopia is about, and how it is about the arrest of change and the agents of change?, Is that what you want?

What is an "Islamic" Welfare State? ---

@somebozo,personally i would have polled no,but i stopped myself, coz it would have distorted the results..

Why would these scholars need to make a rule and give their certification of Shariah compliance? Isn't that a man made practice in its entirety? A good law is clear, concise and easy to understand for everyone, not a pyramid of confusion and more confusion..

A good law is about we the people, not something copied from 7th Century arabia!

america was created as a homeland for people who werent welcomed anywhere else.
pakistan was created as homeland for US MUSLIMS.

Actually you are right.

There has been a time in Muslim history when stealing was not a crime.

Logic is as follows.

If all sins except for shirk are forgivable, then adultry is forgivable.

Islam makes a distinction in implicit criminals and explicit criminals.

If you commit a crime, and it never surfaces, then it is upto you and God to repent and forgive.

However if you are getting diggidy ! out in the public, not repenting it, and mocking the law, then our *** will be stoned !

You do realize what the white vertical strip on the left edge of the Pakistani flag is for?

I do not see any beauty in deliberate hypocrisy! Thats more degenerative to society as it would breed hypocrisy at its best..No wonder why many of the mullahs happen to be missing their character of ethics which they ironically preach all day from their pulpits!
