Yes, have you seen the NUST test? My sister's in medical, all my cousins bar one are doctors, I know how it works.

i dont want to argue with you in this but look at engineering seats in NUST as compared to AMC . And pre medical students have high merit in and pre engineering comes 2nd .
Also you can compare total number of engineering seats in punjab and compare it with medical you will know about the toughest merit

Not for Karachi students, the seats are very low, it's easier to get into DOW for a Karachi student than NUST or NED. I should know, I'm applying

I've got a young doctor cousin, let's analyze why they're striking. The main reason is that they've got families to feed. Young does not mean fresh out of college like it does for engineers. Until one SPECIALISES, he's a young doctor. Now, that takes, on average, 10 years.

Now here's the thing, you can't marry or do anything with your life for those 10 years because you'll hardly be able to support yourself. Also, one lie perpetuated by the media that I would like to bust is that the doctors have the Emergency ward open, only the OPD is closed, all patients in danger are being treated

What is wrong in it, normally it takes about 10 years to move from grade 17 to 18 in government departments unless there is excess or shortage in particular branch.
By your analogy if grade 17 cannot marry than what about qasids, naib qasids, LDCs, UDC ,superintendents and other lower grade staffs should not think about marriages.
I think we need to learn contentment and living within means.

i dont know much about karachi but in punajb its different and in MY AJK its more difficult to get admission in medical but now its little bit easy but much difficult as compared to get admission in engineering .

This thread has 14 pages written on discussion on this issue. Most people here and other online media are of the opinion in favor of goverment.. same discredited goverment that no one trusts.

The reason here is actually the power of electronic media, i.e. TV channels in Pakistan. They make black into white, and white into black. They have successfully diverted the attention of people from original issue lingering from last year with Punjab goverment not keeping their word. People die everyday in govt hospitals for inadiquate facilities or lack of doctors, or many people daily commit suicide for not being able to afford a good life in Pakistan. But this doesnt interest media because there is no motive in it. They have used every single death in any Pakistani hospital since the strike started to use against the strikes, regardless whether actually those patients died due to strike or another reason.

Well,, thats the reason they earn fortunes. It is not without reason that Malik Riaz gives villas to TV anchors, or Nawaz Sharif celebrates Hamir Mir's birthday in his Murree's house, or many others that i dont know about. They are infact nearly gods out there who can manipulate the large masses.

And against this mafia were trying to get a bunch of emotional youngmen whose were, like most youth against them, driven by emotions rather a working mind that could have gotten them something. In beginning should have gotten the media on their side by whatever means, by bribing them or whatever if they wanted to achieve out of Punjab govts pocket.

I dont think the Drs gonna get what they want, the govt achieved what they wanted, i.e. get the public on their side for not giving any relief to these Drs. And thats the key to success of Govt there right now, i.e. get media on your side, rather doing any service to people. My empathy to all those suffered in all this issue starting from poor patients to humiliated Drs. If I were such a dr. I wont indulge in any of such strikes bull$hit, i would rather look abroad, there plenty of places in world where work is better rewarded and people are given respect for what they do.

whatever you people think that doctors are superior or not but its a reality that only high merit students get admission in medical colleges not ordinary students in other professions , so by the criteria of merit they deserve better than you who even cant imagine to join medical college , i am sorry for being harsh but its reality which you people cant digest so live with it .

Thank you! It's just as hard to be an engineer as to be a doctor, I have cousins in Punjab and they've gotten into King Edward, thank God they don't think themselves as superior for becoming a doctor.

Well, its every one's self confident and self content that should prevail on anybody else's projection of themselves and this kind of complex or ego should not influence a different issue. Here the issue was not about setting some over-confident or pround doctors mind into an equal level.
