The USA has. The USN Carrier USS Essex has been preserved. So has an ex-Iowa class Battleship. Heck; even an old WW2 Liberty class Cargo ship has been preserved in San Pedro Harbor. Ask @SvenSvensonov about it.

Very true my friend, but the USS Essex CV-9 was actually sold for scrap and not turned into a museum. However, four Essex-Class Air Craft Carriers are museum ships, along with one Midway Class, and one Kitty Hawk Class (and the only ship of the class) being proposed as a museum ship.

@SvenSvensonov; thanks for the correction. I have seen the USS Hornet, Yorktown and Lexington; though I did not visit any of them per se.

It was found that salvaging such an old carrier was not feasible economically, not even as a museum or relic, perhaps owing to its old age as well as design.

Hopefully we will be able to preserve vicky and his brothers after a stellar service life .

Ah man that is so fcking sad! Should've been turned into a museum piece but no ministry (federal or state) were interested in covering the price and maintaining thereafter.

An iconic piece of Indian military history lost forever.

she will live in our memories, it was only taking up so much space that they had to dismantle it.
