Diriliş Ertuğrul: Turkish views needed

Not all Arabs are represented by these secular Arab nationalist scoundrels. Most Arabs are very loyal to Islam, and value other Muslims.

Many, many Arabs have nostalgia for the Ottoman empire, and disagreed with the Arab revolt.
in real life, I have Arab friends that are mashallah. sadly on PDF, we get the genetic crap

Arabs are very nice and good people, who have great Islamic values, and they are willing to do any job in Western countries, without any hint of arrogance.

The Arabs here come because they have complexes, and then they air out their complexes against Pakistanis, or other people like Turks or Iranians.

There were Arabs serving in the Ottoman Army as well but that's not the point. The point is that incompetent Ar*b governments are trying to bring downthe negative public reactions by creating an common enemy by using trolls to shape public reaction. His country has become a playground between the US and Iran yet he pops up at every Turkish related discussions and tries to troll people... @WebMaster @BHarwana @Irfan Baloch

If you let them be, they will fizzle out. Trolls need to see reactions to survive.

Just carry on as usual.

There are Arab nationalists who try to put down Non-Arab Muslims, it is a consistent thing. I have seen it many times. In the US, they are mostly Ikhwan (Society of the Muslim Brotherhood) from Syria, Lebanon, Jordanian Palestinians, and Palestine (Fatah too.) They are heavily influenced by KSA, because most of them failed to take power in their respective countries and sought asylum there. They function like a hand of Western propaganda, emphasizing voting and embracing lgbt. Watch out for them.

Most of the Arabs are not like this, however. It is only a few problem organizations.

this, people in the comments section going about how borders should be erased, and the caliphate should be brought back. This is contrary to the idea of a country, how can Pakistan exist if you support a single government setup for all Muslims.

This is what conservative Muslims believe everywhere irrespective of Ertugrul series, not necessarily agree to remove borders, borders are good, maybe some kind of commonwealth, trade Union, military alliance etc like Europe.

It will implant wrong ideas and expectations in minds of people about Turkey,

i think nobody in Pakistan believe that right now Turks are living in tents and so Islamic, people now know them more then ever, Just let pass this Islamist Erdogan regime there, people will soon be oblivious to Turkey and will find their next conservative hero somewhere else.

Since when the secular erDODan is a Muslim also you don’t need to be a barking dog for the Turks you aren’t Turk

Your Turkish friend and that Pakistani started to bark against Arabs
You are not an arab. Arabs I know have dignity. You are simply pathetic. Please go to habli babli chat. Or zionist against arabs chat. They will love you there.

Yet they are nationalistic about something they dont have. A nation.

No, we shouldn't. The people are not as foolish and gullible as you are making them out to be..

And have you ever shown similar concern about Hollywood/Bollywood propaganda and how it effects the opinions of people? Surely not

You first need to ask yourself that deep down what is it that you actually fear?

Islamic revival?

Bollywood has always been a concern for me, but it is a concern that is recognized and not thrown in air by the Government.

I don't fear Islamic revival. Have you seen Haqeeqat TV and its viewership, that's the kind of stuff I am concerned about.

We need to snatch islam back from molvi class

OP is worried about the lunatics watching the show and getting adrenaline rush then rallying for caliphate establishment.

I doubt it will be the case, with time people might not be able to commit with the lenght of the show because I can’t tell you how long I’ve been trying to finish season 4 for. You are thinking too much about it. Most things people are just talking about is the production value of the show and drawing comparisons with what we get on our screens. They know its a show.

LOL who do you think you are? Are you sure your whore ancessors were not raped by Turks for almost a millenia? Do you really think you are pure a hundred percent Ar*b? It's a good thing most of the Ar*bs are not like you; when the oil runs out, your government won't be able to hire you to troll in every Turkish related discussions...
He's himself an Arabified Arab, before Arabs his ancestors were sucking up to Sassanians and Romans alternately, and after Arabs sucked up to Turks and Iranians alternately.

So, lately this series called Diriliş Ertuğrul has taken off really fast in Pakistan, and I mean really fast, thanks to the Government and what I would assert as pan expansionist ideals of people.

It has quickly crossed 15 million views on a single video, which is a lot; and so naturally a lot threads have been up about it... however, our Turkish members here have chosen not to comment on, or share their opinion, barely if so.

So, I talked with some Turkish people, and got to know their opinion. Here's what I got to know.
  1. That the series is not at all historically accurate, and that is because there are very, very little to non existent sources on Ertuğrul, so most of the stuff is just made up, we don't know his religious views, or philosophy.
  2. The series is being used as a political tool by the 'ruling party' and for conservatives. They said that whenever there is a certain political atmosphere, the next episode will subtly address it here and there in their favor.
  3. It's not Turkish history, rather religious propaganda. If you want to feed false history as long as it's Islamic propaganda, then this is good for it.
Are these things true? What's your take on the series, I think it's good if you guys share your view because that's sort of an insider view which is more eye opening.

Ofcourse, other views are welcome.

Pretty irrelevant topic for Turks right now but a comment would be nice.

1-) Correct, our knowledge before 1400s are very very limited. Mostly from a few writings that had been writen after 2 centuries. So, it is mostly made up stuff. It is okay to be made up, most of the "historical" serials, films have some made-up elements. However it is essential for made up elements to be consistent with the reality.

For example, earlier Turks that arrived in the Anatolia was still in transtion phase from their shamanic roots to Islam. However, in this serial you see nothing about Shamanism, it is like Turks was always Muslims.

2-) Kind of There was a Ottoman Serial named "Magnificent Century" and Erdogan openly critisized the serial a few times. However with Diriliş, he never critisized it and visited the Set and the actors/actresses. Also, Soundtrack of the Serial used by AKP in the elections times...so there is a general perception that Diriliş Serial is acquainted with a certain political ideology.

3-) I wouldn't go and say this serial is a "religious propaganda" altogether. We can't say it's false history either like we know there were Byzantine, Knights Hospitalier, Mongols, Seljuks etc in the region. but we don't the details. It's not written, so they kinda fill in the blanks.

If you read he is the one who started insult Arabs even when I didn’t say anything against Turks now go bark for your master erdogan because I know your kind everyday you have a new master:lol:

2 NT in the Indian subcontinent is as valid today as it was during the British Raj
No it is not. If the premise of 2NT is Muslims for a nation then 1971 undid that. We have Bangla which makes it 3NT today. Furthermore if Muslims were a nation then all of the Muslim world would be one country.

And even ignoring that and treating Pakistan as 'citadel of Islam' exposes the fallacy. The fact is Pakistan citizenship is not premised on faith. If it was any Muslim could land at Islamabad and apply for citizenship by proving just one thing. "I am a Muslim".

The point being is that while religion is a factor but there are many other layers informing the existence of nations. No one state can bottle Islam. That is like trying to bottle air and trying to claim exclusivity to it.

kind of my point :))
