While political rational thinking might be like what you say here, but your generals in PLA seem to think otherwise. Since most of you guys say that PLA is in full control of CCP even now and rule out any out of government action, it makes us think cautiously. Believe me, the media HIDES more than it hypes anything. I know of a skirmish that took place last year just 150 Km away from my holiday house between your soldiers and ours which the media didn't report anything.

The thread was posted to bring to light the reasons for 1962 defeat, to discuss what went wrong between the neighbours.
One of which was a complete Intelligence Failure. According to wikipedia had IAF intervened the invaders had been pushed back coz their forward bases were not ready:CIA report(I hope that is the reason China has time to time upgraded the forward bases).

Those mocking at Nehru must remember that he was one of the most respected freedom fighter of Indian freedom struggle. That respect came for some reason. And for the same reason he was the first PM of independent India.

And for those boasting about the might and strength of the Chinese Army, they must remember that whatever policy mistakes were made by the Indian side, you people call it ''The Forward Policy of India''; Nehru was so much serious about making Indo-Sino axis(that must have been the supreme block in the world by now) that he could never dreamt of a chinese aggression over a few hundred square kilometers. He never believed the first inputs from the forward bases about Chinese attack and kept his army at bay at the initial phase that turned the tables.

The worst policy error was instead from China itself. They never talked about the border issue at official level. They were so scared by so called ''The forward policy'' that they launched a full fledge attack at once and that too under the Nuclear Umbrella.
What could you expect from a man like Nehru. All his vision and dream which he followed since 1947 just fizzed at once.
His 'Hindi Chini bhai bhai' saying back stabbed him.

At the other hand Chinese Leadership was so short sighted in its approach that it fought with the neighbour over a few sq hundred kilometer of land, otherwise the whole world would have been at the feet of Indo-China Axis. And mind you still do the same thing.
