There certainly is no argument that this step generated a lot of mistrust. Bayer's CEO's comment is reflective of that. But the decision has an moral basis. As I said, the choice between lives and profits. There was not a right or wrong. Govt decided to give importance to one over the other.

It goes back to what I said earlier about conflicts of morals, or more precisely: conflicts of self interests.

Its something like a bonus to them. If the guys at Bayer are to be considered, they can and will recover all the R&D Costs + Manufacturing + Profits just from the swanky rich, right ?? Now if they get just PROFIT ( no Manufacturing, no Marketing ) from a group where it never focused, whats the harm ??

Those who gonna die for sure, let them die peacefully rather than making them suffer with cuts (operations) and medicines (the situation is for the patients for whom survival probability is extreamly low)...

Aou bring our research into danger simply because you steal it and bring it into the hands of a criminal corporation we have no control over, thats the deal. In case you did not notice, Bayer did not want the money india offered. The amount is laughable anyways and does not compensate the potential damage.

I agree completly...i know a women who had chemo therapy, it is hell on earth, no words can describe it. She came to visit us one day at school and we did not recognice her first. She had lost her hair, her skin looked greyish...she survived because the chemotherapy but she said later she wished often just to die after each therapy.

Dear, I was a cancer patient (Lymphoma IV Stage.) And I was through one of the harshest chemo, 24Hrs*7days. Thats a week Long chemo. Few Days Recovery period followed by Tests and another dose. This happened 5 times. I think I know enough of it.

Plus the argument that it's very painful in cancer is not completely true. I would ask you to consult the docs for pain management. I was in chemotherapy and rehab for complete 13 months, pains and physical was least of my troubles. I read up quite a some medical literature by the end of it. The crux of all my reading was if patient cooperates all meds have positive outcomes.

GlaxoSmithKline embarked on this project as a non-profit initiative, with most of its funding coming from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a major contributor to malaria eradication in Africa. GlaxoSmithKline has been developing the Malaria vaccine for three decades, and now has the backing of the UN’s Swiss-based WHO, saying it will recommend the use of RTS,S for use starting in 2015, providing it gets approval.
