Delhi’s Aurangzeb Road Renamed After Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

I don't understand what you mean by 'taking mughal empire to zenith'. He was a fundamentalist mullah type whose aim was to convert Indians to islam at almost any cost. Therefore he cannot be considered a good man. Plain and simple.
Good or bad is subjective. He was a good Muslim. He was bad for us non Muslims. Great for Muslims.

Yes but only partly. When a fundo succeeds, it may sound good for the muslims in the very short term but in the long run their religions ends up getting a bad name and that cannot be good for them either.

When the whole community is Muslim, who cares if Islam gets a bad name? :hitwall: Get real. Only non Muslims will critic Islam. Muslims won't. :)

Precisely, this is what Jinnah said 1940,lahore

No laughing matter. They believe that quite sincerely. I have seen many Pakistanis in this forum who liken themselves with Arabs and consider Spain to be a part of their history. Well, that's until they meet the real Arabs.
Yea I know that they sincerely believe that, which is what makes it all the more funny.

According to them, Pakistan was founded by Mohammad bin Qasim (the first Pakistani), "Pakistan" is a continuation of the Mughal empire that controlled a quarter of the world's GDP, all muslims just adore their country, they are the bastion of Islam, and so on. Their delusions get a reality check when they reach Arab countries, expecting to be garlanded.

Its not her fault because that's what hinuvata feeding in her brain that Muslims were just evils and have not done anything good but still managed to rules for such long period of centuries
I did not take any sides in any hindutva-islamist schism. Can you please point out a single post of mine that is factually incorrect, and arising from brainwashing by "hindutvas"? Can you point a single sentence? If you can, I shall gladly admit the mistake.

Well, that's until they meet the real Arabs.

by "real arabs" you mean the saudis and jordanians on pdf?? ignore those, for they are the useless lot.

al-andalus can be claimed as heritage by any sensible muslim, be they from egypt or syria or indonesia or mali or indeed south asia.

I personally do not support name change of a city or a road. It would be much better if a new road was named after APJ Abdul Kalam. The only man I heard demanding to change the name of Aurangzeb Road was Mr. Tarik Fateh, a canadian of pakistani origin.
Aurangzeb had taken the greatest mughal empire to its zenith during his reign. India was the richest empire during his time. As a person he was extremely pious and just. He earned his daily bread by knitting skull caps and writing religious texts and lived like a Fakir. His empire covered all of India and Afghanistan. He is in bad books of historians because of his ill treatment of sikh gurus, implementation of sharia laws and imposition of jazia on non muslims. But if there can be roads named after Babur and Tughlaq then Aurangzeb Road should have been there. My 2 cents.

Umm...what? The emperor of the wealthiest nation on earth, who ruled over one quarter of the world's economy, had to earn a living knitting skullcaps?

He was the richest monarch on earth at the time, not because he knit a record number of skullcaps to sell in the bazaar, but because he collected an unprecedented tribute of about 38 million pounds, from 150 million people. The revenue through taxes and customs was also a record 100 million dollars, again unprecedented in world history at the time.

And no, he did not live like a fakir. He was the richest and the most powerful man on earth at the time. Not surprising, because he ruled over the richest empire on earth at the time - India, which produced more than a quarter of the world's GDP at the time.

(To give you an idea, the lone superpower today, USA, contributes about 14% of the world's economy.)

Delhi’s Aurangzeb Road to be renamed as Abdul Kalam Road, report says

NEW DELHI: The capital's famous Aurangzeb Road, in the heart of Lutyens' bungalow zone, is set to be renamed to APJ Abdul Kalam Road, according to a report by Zee News. The report says the New Delhi Municipal Corporation, under which the road comes, has taken a decision to rename it.

Aurangzeb Road is said to be India's richest road where property prices are the highest in India.

In July, BJP Lok Sabha MP representing east Delhi Mahesh Girri had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Aurangzeb Road in central Delhl be renamed after former President APJ Abdul Kalam who passed away recently.

He had said: "In my opinion, this will be a great way of preserving Dr Kalam's memories and legacy forever."

The road had been named after the Mughal emperor Abul Muzaffar Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad Aurangzeb, who ruled much of the subcontinent from July 31, 1658 to March 3, 1707.

Renaming Aurangzeb Road had been a long-standing demand of India's right-wing groups, who say the emperor was a "cruel" ruler.

I ain't gonna provide any proof as the news channel would became Sanhi Channels. You may help yourself. He was member of AAP. I read your post before replying and re-reading it is of no use.

I'm aware of the plight of farmers in India, but this is not the case here.

Your Gangender Singh's muder was politicaly motivated by Aam Aadmi Party, It's worker's and AK-49. He played and showed petty politics to world which everyone is aware of, nothing new. Hence, whatever :blah: which you claim is just a loathe of crap 'socialism'

He was not an average Indian Farmer and neither representing them, but AAP's political BAIT. He had a good Business of Turban's. He presented them to likes of US PRESIDENT 'Bill Gates and others'. Do you believe an average farmer or Businessman can dream to meet someone like them? :cuckoo:

Your point of naming road after AAP's members hold's no point to me. :)

do you have proof for this??

please read my previous post again.

that was his great mistake, yes.

that farmer displayed to the world india's ridiculous and unjust social/political/economic system based on extreme capitalism... even usa and britain have a minimal welfare system but not india... india still lives in 500 bc... that is what gajendra singh tried to tell indians and his contribution to india is greater than many by that single act.

surely, you have thanked and positively replied to enough of that type on pdf.

@magudi , what is she talking of??

I can manage my welfare and know to what post I reply l, what and why I reply and thank.

Exactly. The next expressway in India should be named after Dr.Kalam

So Dr.Kalam isn't a Muslim ? :omghaha:
Yes, change with Muslim name....read again "dedicated for Muslims name"....

I wouldn't mind at all if India gets rid of all invaders names but whether that happens or not, we should certainly get rid of villains such as aurangazeb. It's like nobody likes people like churchil but general.Dyre (of jalianwalabagh fame) was particularly bad
The Mughal empire was geographically most expansive and revenue wise richest during the time of Aurangzeb.

No, I won't ignore that.

so why talk as if pakistani people are all versions of osama or the deobandis in lal masjid??

But what exactly is your point?

i must ask you what is your point in bringing historical rapes into this thread... what about near-eradication of buddhist structures and influence in much of india??

as for the renaming, i made a different recommendation and soumitra replied thus ( Delhi’s Aurangzeb Road Renamed After Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam | Page 8 )... can you please follow that conversation between me, levina, magudi, post colonial and sidak, and give your point of view??
