Defence & Diplomacy Airchief Interview 25.5.2016

Unlikely.. BLK II has no structural or radar change.. Some systems might be changed (and will be produced in house).. And so will be the entire aircraft... Unless you think Air chief is a liar.
Of course he's not. But I think that's a very ambitious target for Pakistan. Replacement of all 3rd Gen fighters would be completed by the time they achieve 100% minus the engine target. Also, I had a feeling that I saw that 65% figure in an article but I think that it was 58%.

It is a private entity located in Islamabad involved in designing various electronic systems for Armed forces. That is all I can say because this procurement is not publicly disclosed yet.

Chinese have a export ban on J-20 and seems like are not willing to sell J-20 anytime soon. They needs to first make it operational and fill their own ranks. J-31 might be use as a stop-gas but is not what PAF ideally wants. PAF may has asked about F-35 but there is a big question mark on it. Which left PAF with only option to utilise their own resources. Turks are forward looking and may have drop idea to PAF chief that we should jointly start looking toward 5+ technology since US and Russia is already looking into it. Saudis and other GCC countries might chip in with some cash. Turks are getting US second best, the F-35 and Pakistan might end up with some J-31s for a time being, but ultimately both countries and our mid-east friend needs a long time solution and that is developing human resource for produce to own tech.

That's exactly what he is doing, Instead of asking US for the best and then settling for chinese stuff, he is setting a stone to build our own resource so that next 10 to 20 years Pakistanis won't be posting same comment on online forums. This was the job of our civilian bureaucrats and politician to develop industry in country and educated human resource pool, which could have help our defence sector as per demand.

FInally guy with a vision and can realize where the hell world is headed in next 20 to 30 years.
So he should never wasted money on F 16 worth 70 million dollars it's expansive not worthy enough

Well in my honest opinion, the indigenous manufacturing infrastructure and design ability is still long ways off even with outside help (say from China). But does that mean we should not embark upon the first step because its a daunting & colossal task?

We have to start at some point. Its good that the plans for taking that first step have been set into motion. There would need to be many such further steps to achieve the planned objectives. This is going to take time. It would be a great achievement if we make it by 2030 even. But nonetheless, this is a necessary first step.

The main issue however, is to ascertain whether from here on till we meet the required goals ... only the further acquisition of improved block iterations of JF-17 and 2nd hand F-16s upgraded (questionable) be enough?

My two cents on the subject is that we will be at severe disadvantage in both quality and quantity of fighters.

Also there is also a vital question that whether the end product 5th gen indigenous-ish fighter (if and when we achieve it) be any match to the adversaries 5th gen and other frontline platforms ... by the time we induct it?

I fervently hope that the ACM knows what he is doing and has got a good handle on how to get to where we need to be. Otherwise this seems like an effort to instill good morale among the general public in the face of extremely desperate and handicapped situation conventional military aviation hardware wise.

Private entity in Islamabad? Lets not speculate.

And what organisation would that be? Aksa? Nextek? RWR? ECI? We know each company and their products. We know what they can or cannot do.
None of them. Unfortunately, I could not be able to comment on it further. You have to accept it at face value or just consider it chest thumping. The tag of confidential on everything has hurt us a lot in every manner be it economical or technological.

Sure, let it be that way. However, don't speculate and make stuff up just to make yourself and others feel better.

Firstly I don't think there is any speculation in it because I have spent my nights analysing it. You may accept it or reject it I am not responsible for giving you any proof.
Secondly, It is not an alien technology. A number of technologies and models of different specifications are available in the market. So there is nothing to feel better, just a routine job.
