I don't think the OP is saying that the universe has stopped expanding. It is saying the universe will start diffusing since the glue that holds things together, dark matter, is being replaced by anti-gravity (dark energy).

The article is written by people who have very little knowledge about dark energy & dark matter. I also happen to be an amateur astronomer and member of the West of London Astronomical Society. While I don’t claim to be an expert, I certainly know a lot more about dark energy and dark matter that the journalist of Times of India.

Dark matter was initially theorized by in 1990’s because they calculated that there was not enough matter in the universe to hold it together. Now it is considered that normal matter only makes up only about 5 to 6% of the mass of the universe, the rest is dark energy & dark matter. We know next to nothing about dark matter or dark energy. Dark matter is not anti- matter else it would react with normal matter and destroy it; we can’t see it or feel it but it is present everywhere.

Same is true with dark energy, we are not exactly sure what it is. Some say that universe is not expanding but the space that is expanding and that empty space is not empty but filled with dark energy. Dark flow is another postulation. It suggests that there is something that is pulling hundreds of millions of stars towards a certain part of the sky at about 800KM per second! Possibility of another universe???

Anything that scientist can’t understand they call it ‘Dark’ this or that. Remember all this is a theory or postulation only. If anything happens to the universe it would be in billions of year’s time and thus nothing to worry about. I would certainly not lose any sleep over it.

We don't even know the potential of our own brain then how can we give perfect theories about the vastest thing known to man, universe??

The same about brain can be said about not only humans but also animals as well as you. We don't fully know what is in the deepest oceans then saying something perfect about universe is very difficult.
