good visual representation no doubt but maybe you are forgetting that it is exactly the cobra manuver that got these MKI's killed against the extremely agile and manuverable F15's and F16's. To put it in lay term, in a modern airwarfare, the newer version of HMD's slaved with 5th Generation HOBS WVR can beat this maneuver hands down.

And what if you put the same HMD's, all aspect short range AAM's, RWR and MAWS on the MKI in addition to hyper manuverability and Thrust vectoring, with a twr of +1, what happens then?


I remember the russian designer challenging their western counterparts at Farnboroug to take on a full load MKI in WVR, guess how many took on the challenge??

MKI apart from being a exceptionally nimble dogfighter, is also an excellent BVR platform, It's not god's gift to avaition, but it is definitely one of the best in the Heavy combat a/c class.

The question is when will the MKI detect the F16 and when the F16 the MKI?
The Bars has more range, but mainly for bigger targets than an F16 (correct me if I'm wrong please, RCS around 1m²?), on contrary the F16 radar has less range, but might be able to detect the MKI at max range, because of the high RCS of the MKI.
Aim 120 vs R77 should be clear, but also interesting imo will be, Aim 9 + JHMCS vs supermanuverability + better EWS.

So even in BVR, as well as in WVR the F16s (not to forget the older once that will be upgraded to MLU level) will cause some headache to IAF and MKI.

Although radar of this plane so huge that it can detect its enemy before they do, But still even if it comes to Dogfight between Su -30 MKI and any other XYZ plane, then even an pilot with "Average experience" on MKI can "Lock On" to its enemy aircraft, in any direction (north,south,east,west, Up/down,right/left) and at an unimaginable low speed while using awesome maneuverability powers of this marvelous piece of metal.

And how can we forget the "Cobra" style, which will help the jet to reduce its speed drastically in a short period of Time/Distance to dodge enemy plane on its tail.

Considering our present doctrine , MKIs wont be doing any direct combat with enemy , it will act as mini AWACS where our fulcrums and jaguars will do the rest of the job.
