China - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word "China" is derived from Cin (چین), a Persian name for China popularized in Europe by Marco Polo.[13][14] The first recorded use in English dates from 1555.[15] In early usage, "china" as a term for porcelain was spelled differently from the name of the country, the two words being derived from separate Persian words.[16] Both these words are derived from the Sanskrit word Cīna (चीन),[16] used as a name for China as early as AD 150.[17]

Nope exactly the same

How do you guys avoid getting confused between the two words? It is the context right?

no, both are exact sam,e same case with our language urdu

also ceramics are also called cheeni :D

Nice, so Cheeni means China/Sugar/Ceramics. That is quite a good association!

yeh right... loll.. don't forget only people like Gandhi and Akbar were real heroes... Bhagat Singh, Udham Singh, and all other warriors were terrorists.. remember?

Bhagat Singh and Udham Sigh are heroes in standard history books. (Akbar is more of a good emperor than a 'Hero').

(In standard NCERT books)

Well it started with the mughal army which started making fun of it and then it spread.

Oh, so it was the evil Mooooslims again, eh? ;)

Remember your mission on this forum. It is to present the kinder, gentler side of India. :)

PS. The female avatar is a nice touch!

When was that? There's also similar kind of allegation that Subhash Bose was considered as a terrorist in independent India before off-course people got that changed.
