Could F-7P/PGs even Mirages be upgrade to BVR.

I don't think/don't know, that KLJ-6E was BVR capable.

I the same photobucket album, there is a twin-rack SD-10 pylon. DO you know the story behind that? I have seen a similar one displayed withthe J-10.

the grifo-m radar is bvr capable and is available to be installed on the F-7PGs with the sd-10 bvr if the PAF decides to do so. it wld make it a formidable AD fighter. not so sure abt the mirages though.

When PAF received the AIM 120 C-5, they said this was PAF's first BVR aresenal.

Are you guys sure that J-7 and Mirage were armed with BVR missiles?

Being BVR capable is one thing....but actually using it is another.....

sd-10a MER is for JFT not f-7s, but f-7 certainly can carry and launch sd-10. here is a more capable variant of klj-6e, the F variant....

If I recall correctly the PG pilots were calling BVR shots in High mark recently. Infact many PG Pilots got BVR kills.

your information can be correct, because F-7PG has Grifo radar nearly 60Km detection and tracking range with lock up from 37Km, So if pakistan use Mica IR or MICA-EM Varient on F-7PG or Mirage, i think it is possible.

Range for Grifo-7 is 55 km search, 38 km track

Grifo MG is 65 km search and 45 track

f-7pg can launch sd-10 but not to its optimum range, still does the job quite well though

Now my question is that, if Grifo-7 has 55 km search range, is it possible to lock on a fighter from 55km, if not this task can be acheived by some changes.

Its not a question of being able to achieve a change.It is a question of whether it is cost effective.We are cash strapped. PGs are just point defence fighters.Now to change their radar to a bigger one will mean more modifications.At the end of it all ow much armament can it carry? It has 5 hardpoints and the central one will invariably need a fuel tank.Ferry range is also low.So you make changes worth millions of dollars and you still have a point defence fighter.Best to invest your money in JFT.
