MQM assassination: Is anyone safe?

MQM chief mourns the loss of Dr.Imran Farooq

Dr Imran Farooq’s assassination is an event that is going to drastically change the dynamics of politics in Pakistan. The horrendous act committed in London, is going to have grave consequences in streets of Karachi and Hyderabad while causing tension as far as Islamabad.
Out of all that will be said about this assassination, there is one thing that will come as a shock to all; party leaders are no longer safe even if they are in exile.
For years political leaders have gone into exile for fear of their lives to eventually safely return to Pakistan.
The MQM itself was the pioneer of operating a party from London through a sound system and using excellent communication and coordination. But Dr Imran’s assassination changes all that. Although still in mourning, the leaders of the party must be pondering what exactly has happened?
After more then a decade of safety and no unfortunate incidents, how have they ended up losing one of their founding members? The answers to these questions are going to have an impact not only for the party but for all associated with it or falling under its sphere of influence.
The message that was portrayed by this act is simple, no one is safe anymore, and nothing is off limits. It’s not just the MQM that should is concerned by this development, in fact every single political party is waking up to a new political reality today. MQM has lost a founding member – just months after losing a law maker in a target killing.
The riots that followed took the lives of over 75 people in Karachi. The point is, the riots that erupt now could possible be much worse and harder to contain. If there was ever a time that politicians needed to come together and have a long heart to heart discussion, now is pretty much it.
Considering the aftermath of the attack coupled with the floods and terrorism the country may be pushed further in to an abyss bouncing back from which could take decades.

Ok when is Altaf own turn?? Or he is like that evil samri jadogar who has to suck other people life to exten his own??

Even when he dies he will leave a golden calf behind which will moan and grunt his name and continue to fool sevral generations of future with the same manta "Hum india se sab kuch qurban ker ke aye thee..."

The most bigoted opinion if find among MQM is they have problem with every native ethinicty of Pakistan be is Punjabi, Sindi, or Pukhtoon. Its a big like colonisation. You first enter as peaceful resident then find yourself at problem with everyone hence the justification of acting violently.

I don't understand the problems with some muhajirs. they show loyalty to india, and they even want to unite with india. why do they need this "MQM" terrorists? Dont muhajirs consider themselves as Pakistanis? I thought most of the Muhajirs in Sindh would consider themslves as "Sindhis".....
Wonder what's more pathetic, the Pakistanis who left everything in India, rejected India, to join with Pakistan or the idiots who would still insist they have any loyalty with India.

Altaf Hussain or MQM does not represent the Pakistanis whose previous generations migrated from India to be with Pakistan at its hour of need. If you can't see that and continue to perpetuate this lie, then it is you who do this greatest service to India by causing a needless division.

The fact that Altaf Hussain is a cartoon joker and harmful to Pakistan is acknowledged by any sane Pakistani. But for that matter, so are the treacherous Bhutto's that have ruled before, so are the Choudharies, so are the Sharifs, the Wali Khans, the Bugtis, the Marris and so on.

We've all been a party to the treachery against Pakistan. Don't for convenience's sake paint one group in the color that suits your preconceptions best.

Nobody really knows why he was really killed. But yes Altaf should be treated as a suspect... Imran Farooq was handling most of the day to day affairs of the MQM in London, there are just so many potential motives behind this. Pakistanis giving knee-jerk reactions, firing, rioting is just ... well so Pakistani of them. The police in Karachi needs to maintain order (which it probably won't).

A lot of people giving stupid reactions, don't find reasons to spawn one issue out of another needlessly here.

Actually this problem is in sindh (especially Karachi)

its because there are many parties working for the rights of sindhi and pakhton etc. So a feeling developed among them that they are ignored politically

there is no as such problem in Punjab (especially upper) hence they joined main stream politics. You dont hear muhajir term here

MQM at best represents a group of economic oppurtunists which came to theive on economic capital of Pakistan. Its foundations as a criminal gang were laid along with parition of Pakistan but a formal power as political party only emerged after gaining formidable headcount thanks to a generation of birth rate and releative actions by government when they realised one group of people are roaching over the industrial heart of country while locals are deprived of their rightful employment.
